Reviewed By henri2004I would recommend this hotel and area to anyone who loves a short break in the countryside. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and changed our booking from 2 nights to 3 without any fuss. The meals were delicious and generous proportions. Just right after a long day walking in the beautiful area. go there you can't go wrong. Finally I like 2 pillows and I was not disappointed.

The building, which was home to the local school from 1923 to 1954, has maintained its traditional character even with numerous renovation projects. Many painstakingly arrange details, like old certificates and teaching instruments, reminds one of scenes from the days of yore in the otherwise modern ambience. The old school is a place where you can let your spirit free. Enjoy the cosy warmth of the open fireplace in winter, a cool refreshment in our beer garden during summer days, the luxurious and stylish décor in the rooms - and a romantic, nostalgic atmosphere that you won't forget.
Disappointing
Reviewed By Ejan962Based on price and reviews, we expected so much more... To start with, the woman at the receoptiondesk is probably the most unfriendly person I have ever met in this position. The rooms in the part of the hotel across the street are small, very basic and without any charm (Ikea stuff). There was a lot of noise coming from the street and the parc (youngsters having a party?) both very eatly and very late, and the hotel itself added to this by allowing very loud construction work to take place just in front of the breakfast earea (charming and a very friendly lady this time) during breakfast. All in all, a stressful expierience...and that is quite the opposite of what we had hoped for.

Reviewed By Babsie59We were looking for a romantic weekend away and found Forellenhof which is located in the middle of nowhere in the Sauerland in Germany. The location is very remote and quiet and rather beautiful. The hotel is clean, cosy and the service is excellent. The restaurant is just fabulous and the hosts are great. From here you can walk in the bison park not far away or visit Schmallenberg, the pearl of the Sauerland. Book a table in the restaurant - it is absolutely worth it. We will come again!

Reviewed By pressemedienSo lautet der treffende Kernspruch für die weit über 30 Jahre alte Bauernhof-Pension in Weidenhausen, einem Stadtteil von Bad Berleburg im Wittgensteiner Land. Hier in Weidenhausen an der B 480 liegt der ländlich geprägte „Steffes Hof“ der über die Jahre hinweg stets modernisiert worden ist und der heute über 8 komfortable Gästezimmer und ein geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Landhaus-Restaurant mit ca. 50 Sitzplätzen verfügt, das von der Familie Afflerbach in dem vier Generationenhaus geführt wird. Es ist Herbst und der „Steffes Hof“ lädt vom 29. Oktober bis 13. November 2021 zu den „Schlachteessen 2021“ mit täglichen Bierproben der benachbarten Brauerei Bosch ein. Die hölzernen Decken der Räumlichkeiten mit moderner Bestuhlung und geschmackvoller Dekoration strahlen Wittgensteiner Gemütlichkeit und persönliche Atmosphäre aus. Die Räume füllen sich rasch mit einheimischen, Gästen und dem benachbarten Siegerland. Die Gerichte auf den Speisekarten sind ganz auf das „Schlachteessen“ abgestimmt. Kräftige Suppen, frisches Bauernmett, Hausmacher Wurst- und Schlachteteller sind ebenso begehrt wie gebratene Blutwurst mit Kartoffelstampf und Zwiebelringen, Rippchen, Bauernkoteletts, Kesselfleisch, Schlachteburger, Wellwürstchen, gebratene Leber oder Bergbauernpfannen. Wir entscheiden uns für ein Bauernkotelett mit Speck-Zwiebel-Sauce, frischen Champignons, gebratenen Würfelkartoffeln und grünen Bohnen sowie den Klassiker Champignonrahmschnitzel mit Pommes und Salat. Kellnerin Leonie und Ihre Mutter heißen alle Gäste mit einem kleinen Gruß aus der Küche (Kräuterkäse und Leberaufstrich bei frischen kleinen Brotscheiben) willkommen. Die Essensausgabe folgt „Zug um Zug“. Die Portionen sind groß, deftig, schmackhaft und in jedem Falle sättigend. Zum Nachtisch gibt´s Bayrisch Creme mit noch warmem Erdbeerspiegel und vom Haus einen „milden Wachholderschnaps“. An den Tischen wird gescherzt und gelacht; da sage noch mal einer, dass die Wittgensteiner nicht feiern können. Und wer möchte, der kann noch „eine Wurstetüte Hausmacher Wurst für Deheeme (Daheimgebliebene)“ zum Schlachte-Essen-Preis von 20 Euro mitnehmen. Apropos Mitnehmen: Im Oktober 2020 hat die Familie Afflerbach unmittelbar an der B 480 ein großes Weinfass etabliert wo täglich von 8 bis ca. 21 Uhr bäuerliche Produktvielfalt in Selbstbedienung angeboten wird. Dazu gehören z.B. Nudeln, fertige Gerichte, Fleisch- und Wurstwaren in Gläsern, Kochkäse (natürlich hinter Kühltüren hygienisch verpackt), Bauernkäse, geräucherte Wurst, Pfefferbeiser, Nussschinken, Speck, Griebenschmalz und diverse Fertiggerichte wie z.B. Currywurst im Glas, Gulasch-, Erbsen-, Kartoffel-Lauch-, Pizza- und Rindfleischsuppen ebenso wie Rinderrouladen, Soleier, Genüsenpasten und Kartoffeln. Aus dem Steffes Hof eigenem zertifiziertem Schlachthof kann man hier Grillgut wie Bratwurst, Minutensteaks, Baufleisch oder Putensteaks auf Vertrauensbasis erwerben. Auf Leckermäulchen wartet zudem Süßes in Form von Apfelmus, Honig, Schokolade, Fruchtaufstrich oder Karamellsirup. Rindfleischpakete vom Simmertaler Fleckvieh (abgepackt in 10 – 30 kg Paketen) oder Schweinefleisch (10 – 40 kg Pakete) kann man ebenso wie herzhafte Geschenke (diverse Präsentkörbe) von 8,50 bis 50 Euro in Steffes Hof erwerben. Unabhängig von den derzeitigen „Schlachte-Essen“ bietet Steffes Hof eine reichhaltige Speisenkarte mit hausgemachten Suppen, Salaten, vegetarischen Gerichten (Bauernomelettes, Gemüsegratin mit Rösti, gefüllte Wraps) neben den Klassikern (diverse Schnitzel frisch aus dem Schweinerücken) , Hähnchen, Lachs Co an. Dabei darf die gute Hausmannskost wie Brotzeitplatten, Hausmacher Wurst, diverse Hart- und Weichkäse usw.) nicht fehlen. Eine kleine Kinderkarte und verführerische Desserts wie warmer Apfel-Tarte oder Cheese-Cake mit Fruchtsauce, Schokoladenkuchen und Eis in vielen Variationen komplettieren das reichhaltige Speisenangebot. Fazit: Steffes Hof (Pewnsion. Restaurant und Verkaufsfass) ist in jeder Hinsicht eine Empfehlung. Besonders lobend erwähne ich den ausgesprochen freundlichen Service und die sehr gute bürgerliche Küche.

Reviewed By LizHPVery nice reception by the owner herself, nice-sized room, free Wi-Fi, good breakfast - and all of that for an unbeatable price. There are parts that have already been renovated (they look nice) and other parts that look quite old (such as the bathroom). If you don't mind that, this budget hotel is worth a try.

Schöner Famielenbauernhof mit netten Gastgebern ?
Reviewed By Patrick SSchöner Bauernhof mit Ziegen, Pony‘s, Pferden, Kühen und zwei verrückten, sehr lieben Hofhunden die einen jederzeit zu einer Runde Gassi aufgefordert haben. Großer Kinderspielplatz mit vielen Spielgeräten. (konnten wir leider wetterbedingt nicht soviel nutzen). Außerordentliche nette Gastgeber. Wir haben unter anderem ein kleines Begrüßungspaket mit Naschereien und etwas zu trinken erhalten. FeWo sauber und ordentlich. Kinderreisebett und Hochstuhl vorhanden. Frühstück wurde liebevoll zu bereitet (mehrere Sorten Wurst, Streichkäse, Tomate-Mozzarella, Kaffee, Brötchen, Körnerbrötchen und Quark. Abendessen konnte wir leider nicht auf dem Hof genießen, da das Restaurant geschlossen war. Wir werden dort wieder zu Gast sein.
