We're a family of four with 2 boys, we had a wonderful 1 night stay the room was perfect for our needs and the food at the restaurant was incredible. Steak and Ale pie is a must have. All the staff are super friendly and the service is great. The place itself is an old 17th century building so has lots of charm and character. Play area outside aswell for the kids who made friends instantly. We would definitely stay here again.

Callow Hall has undergone an exciting and extensive refurbishment and renovation of all public areas, the 15 individually styled rooms, and the beautiful 11 Hives and 2 Treehouses which are built in our woodland. Our Garden Room restaurant and bar is somewhere to relax and savour every bite. Whether you're staying the night or just popping in, take a seat and enjoy seasonal dishes made from the freshest local produce, or indulge in a tipple or two from our carefully curated bar. And if you're curious about how our team craft your favourite cocktails, just ask.
This is an upscale expensive hotel set in the countryside just outside Ashbourne. A lot of investment has gone into the hotel grounds and treehouses "hives" and it is very comfortable. There is a nice terrace outside with loungers and deck chairs overlooking a lovely wild flower meadow. Our compact room was small with a poor view, only 1 chair, but a lovely shower, internet radio, and complimentary snacks. The restaurant is fully glass sided on all 4 sides, so very light with great rural views, but gets noisy because of the hard surfaces. Service was poor, waiting on staff were young and new and needed better training My chips were poor with the large Barnsley chop and I guess had been cooked some time ago and kept heated The hotel has 3 comfy lounges, the library snug was my favourite Super to walk i the grounds round the hives, you are transported there by buggy. The Tissington trail on an old railway line is very close by with bike hire and pleasant walks, even through a disused railway tunnel into Ashbourne. With a bit more training, sorting the food, this will be a tip top hotel Pity it doesnt have a swimming pool, but there is a spa we didnt use.

The George and Dragon is a family run town pub with en-suite accommodation. We serve home cooked food all day 12-8pm, We are situated on the market place. We started our adventure two years ago and have managed to gain a great reputation through our home cooked food, great beers and our newly decorated en-suite rooms. Come and see for yourself.
Four of us visiting with a four legged friend, stopped off for a spot of lunch. Very welcoming to humans and dogs alike, with 4 absolutely superb meals. We don’t live local but if we were to return we’d have no hesitation in stopping off again.

We made a reservation some 2 /12 months ago direct with the royal oak for my wife and I ,my wife is a very disabled person so on booking 3 nights b&b the person doing the booking was asked if they had downstairs room, she answered no but had got one upstairs I replied saying it was no good for my wife being disabled could not walk upstairs she said we have a stair lift that was good news ,, she was then asked if they had a walk in shower yes was the answer so thought great** .on arrival yesterday 3rd june 2022 we were told the room we had booked was overbooked but could have one other and move into the original room on saturday , so on looking at the room via a antique chair lift which difficult for a disabled person to get into and none of the rooms had a walk in shower ..the so called manager appeared to be take it or leave it attitude and they had not over booked but bookings .com had done it very disappointed and wiil never go there again and warn prospective visitors to check there booking are secure .

We visited for an evening meal as a group of four in April. The location is amazing. From the outside it looks like a traditional pub. I therefore expected traditional decor and home cooked food. I got what looked like a badly decorated living room. I spent the evening with the brightest light shining in my eyes. The food is all straight from the freezer to microwave. I know that not everywhere is Michelin star and amazing but I really can’t think of a good think to say about this place other than where it is.

Welcome to Oldfields Farm. We are located in the beautiful village of Snelston and a five minutes drive from Ashbourne. We are at the foot of the Peak District making this the perfect location for exploring the picturesque countryside or historic sites like Chatsworth House. Our accommodation is named Handel's Muse as we are several hundred yards from the inspirational birthplace of Handel’s ‘Water Music. This cute and bijou converted mews contains a double bedroom, designer marble shower room, large beamed fully-fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, cooker, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, washing machine, fridge with icebox, and a lofty open plan lounge containing a fire surround made from 2500 year old fire surround with wood effect stove. Perfect for those romantic weekends away with someone special. Outside Handel’s Muse, with views across the orchard towards the bridle path, is a private patio and garden complete with bench, table, chairs, BBQ and a breeze house.
Had a wonderful week long break at this great little find. Accommodation is comfortable and cosy, perfect for a couple. Welcome basket on arrival with homemade biscuits for the dog, jam, scones, clotted cream, milk & freshly laid eggs for us. The kitchen has everything you need & more…. Never seen so many utensils in a rental property. Bedroom has lovely matching bedding, curtains & blind. The bed was so comfortable we slept like babies! Very quiet & picturesque area with great walks from the accommodation. Five minute drive to Aldi supermarket & M&S food store. Lovely large garden with direct access from the bedroom which our dog loved. Handy dog shower on site which was great after a trip to the river. Can’t praise Emma enough, a lovely host, always on hand should you need anything. We will most definitely return.

Welcome to Hillcrest House, a self-catering holiday let right on the path to Dovedale, one of the most idyllic spots in the Peak District. An 18th Century coaching house with gorgeous views of Thorpe Cloud and the surrounding pastures. You can step out and walk in any direction - the famous stepping stones across the River Dove are just a short walk away, as are the Tissington trail and Ilam Park National Trust. Hillcrest House is a family orientated property with tastefully decorated rooms. It is currently available to book via Sykes Cottages only - please visit their website.
I booked this property in March 2021 for 12 people, for a family wedding local to the property. I paid the deposit at the time and the full balance when it was requested, 6 weeks before we were due to stay. I was sent the check in information pack etc via the 3rd party company I booked through (Sykes Cottages). A week after I had paid the remainder of the cost in good faith, I had an email (not even the courtesy of a call), to advise me that unfortunately my booking was being cancelled 5 weeks before we were due to stay. The property is being refurbished and would not be available until June, amazing that this was not known the week before the balance was paid or during the past 11 month the booking was made. I now have to find accommodation for 12 people, in the same area which undoubtedly will be far more expensive. Disappointed in the total disregard for the chaos this has caused us trying to find another place to stay on such short notice. I am sure the property will be great for those who actually get to stay there. Book at your own risk!

Room 5. slept ok for 2 nights. First breakfast was lovely, 2nd morning was pre cooked and been standing, bacon was hard same as the eggs, sausage very dry! did not enjoy at all!. Bed lovely and clean but the room was very dusty. television had not been dusted behind for weeks. Wi Fi not readily available you have to ask for the password. felt like they didn't want you to use it! Needs a lot of updating. would not return.

My friends and I had a lovely time staying at these homes. The rooms were lovely and everything was very clean. The homes are a 5 minute walk into the centre of Ashbourne, but there is also parking outside for cars. I would happily return to stay here if I visit Ashbourne again in the future.
