great place to stay

Reviewed By Łukasz M

The hostel is conveniently located in the city centre. Christina, a receptionist, was really helpful, friendly and kind - definitely a hard-working, task-oriented person. The kitchen was clean. I guess during summer time it can be a bit noisy at the hostel due to the neighbourhood, but for winter time it seems to be a great place to stay.

Good location, staff and guest

I found this place after being in Lviv a few days. I stayed here about two weeks I think. 4 bed dorm, good size room, good locker but it was hot. All European hostels need to look into ceiling or window fans to move the air. The toilets are limited but really on a problem during a few mornings. Also they have a washing machine. No dryer and limit space to hang clothes up to dry. I made a recommendation they install clothes lines outside the room window. It's the norm in the area. They also made reservations to Gar'is Hostel Kyiv & wrote out the translation for the train for me. Good staff and clean. Street traffic claims the other star.

It was very nice and tidy over there. I have stayed for 3 days and seen a cleaner, old lady, each morning. The stuff is kind and helpful. Administrator Alex helped me to book tickets for Lviv’s Opera. The hostel is located in town, nevertheless it is not loud at night. 10 out of 10 for this price

Great rooms, but...

Staff didin't speak english at all, and seemed a bit rude as we haven't noticed the sign to cover shoes before checkin. It was the first place with such requirement, seemed a bit strange. They accept only cash, but has no change, so have some small money with yourself or you will overpay. Rooms are big and spacious, but small things still bothered - it was too hot and no power outlets near beds. The best thing about this hotel is its location and price.

Located 15min. by foot from Rynok square (=city center) the hotel is located in overall quiet surrondings. Possibility of breakfast on prior reservation. No restaurant, but no need for, as there are plenty of restaurants in the center. 24/7 reception. Personnel is English speaking and helpful: the receptionnist performed train ticket reservations on my behalf. It saved me a slot of waiting time at the train station and possible language misunderstandings. Cleaning service is very efficient and honest. Fan/ventilator (or even air cond.) would be appreciated during summer temp. ,(around 30° during day time).

Cossacks Hostel

Fantastic value accommodation, right in heart of the city and close to all the action

Reviewed By wanderer_scotland

I was visiting Ukraine (as I do every year since 2004) with my wife and kids to Ternopil, and for our latest visit, rather than go via Kyiv, Wizzair had started direct flights from the UK to Lviv, which was very handy for us. Coming back I decided to make use of the chance to use the new routes to get a early morning flight from Lviv to Wroclaw in Poland, but for a 9am flight it was far to early to set off from Ternopil at a good time, so I decided to book a hotel for the night in Lviv. While I was there the Lviv Jazz Festival was happening, so accommodation was proving hard, but I managed to get a room booked in Cossacks Hostel. Excellent little hostel (which actually has a more low-key hotel feel about it) located just a stones throw from the Opera Hose and from the Town Hall Square (with its many bars and restaurants) it certainly met all my needs. A little tricky to find, as its not well sign posted (there is another Hostel about 3 or 4 doors up which is better signed posted and I actually made the mistake of going there first) with just a little notice board on the door side saying this is the building. Staff are excellent and do a great job of making you feel welcome and keep the place really tidy. My room was basic, but clean and met my requirements. Will most certanly stay here again when passing through Lviv again.
