Snowmobile tour in beautiful surroundings

Reviewed By Hilde S

We ordered snowmobile tour online for Camp Alta. We stayed at Camp Ripan, but we were picked up and had free transport to Camp Alta. We were a party of four and had 2 snowmobiles for a day. Cassie was our wonderful guide. We drove around on a nearby frozen lake, through a forrest, and to the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. We had 3 hours at the Icehotel on our own, which was amazing. Our boys (both 14 years old also loved this tour, it was the highlight of everything, they said when we came home) What a beautiful landscape and surroundings. So idyllic. Maybe next time we come to Kiruna we’ll stay at Camp Alta, it look so cosy there. Thank you so much for making this day magical for us!

Staycation

Reviewed By Marsupimami

A perfect stay at a lovely ecofriendly hotel. Well worth every penny! We came from Umeå to stay here for a day. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good and the sauna lovely. A bit cold in the river as the ice hade gone just a month ago, but I still went for a swim.

Aurora Camp Kurravaara

Aurora Camp is wonderfully located at the Torne River, 12 km from the city of Kiruna. You can book your own cottage, simple rooms in the main building or wilderness suite. We arrange all kinds of tours in both summer and winter. You can also rent a canoe or mountain biking in the summer and skiing or snowshoeing in the winter. But missed especially not our dog sledding and snowmobile tours. Transfer to the camp and from the camp can be booked with us for 350 SEK/car, one way.

Nature at its ultimate

Reviewed By SubhadeepDas83

The camp is situated around 25 kms from Kiruna in the midst of nature. There is forest around and is definitely a must place for a nature lover. The entry to the camp is a bit tricky (though you have sign board) from the highway. I was there in the coldest time of the winter but I think summer will be beautiful as well. It is just beside the river, which was completely frozen and we viewed the northern lights just from the room through the glass (though the intensity was very less). Most important point for this camp, please travel with all your necessary item (food, drinks etc) as there is nothing nearby.

Enjoying light summer nights

Reviewed By janengvall

This place has history: known from the 1600s and onwards. Always relying on the blessings of the river and enjoying light warm summers as well as cold snowy winters. We rented the lodge on the river bank in the middle of July. It was well kept, had some cooking facilities and access to sauna and a wooden outdoor bath barrel. We enjoyed breakfast at the main house and went to the Hulkoff restaurant in the vicinity for dinner. Whether your interest is fishing, hiking, or city tourisim, there is always something interesting for you. This is a good place to visit, whether you want to relax or learn about the adventurous history of the area.

A beautiful place close to world heritage Laponia

Reviewed By Katrin S

I wonder why not I cannot find more recommendations for this beautiful place since it is really worth a visit or a stay for a few nights. The ressort, whose translation means "squirrel island" is located on a small peninsula at lake Saggat. The surrounding landscape is really impressing and reminds me of Alaska. Tip: go to Kvikkjokk 17 km away and do some hikes on the local mountains (e.g. Prinskullen) or go by Kajak on the Kvikkjokk delta! The ressort itself is really nice and the staff helpul and friendly. They offered us a cottage for the same price although we have booked a hotel room and we didn´t regret choosing the cottage! The breakfast was quite good and also dinner could be recommended (local specialitys). If you want to cook dinner or breakfast on your own, please keep in mind that the next supermarket is about 110 km away in Jokkmokk ;-)

Lugnt, med behov av uppröjning

Reviewed By 765paulap

Really Good food with a north Sweden theme

Reviewed By agrensa

This place did. It disappoint this year either. Had a wonderful pizza with the most special crust- crispy but at the same time very airy. With a north Sweden theme it had Västerbotten cheese, chanterelles bernaise sauce, red onions. “Lufta special” was really quite delicious, especially with that special crust! Sit outside on the veranda and enjoy the view over a valley that has a quaint stream running through. They allow dogs on the veranda.
