10 Top-Rated Bed and Breakfast Inns in Regensburg, Upper Palatinate, Bavaria

April 25, 2023 Concepcion Newsome

Founded by the Romans in 179 AD as Casta Regina (meaning Fortress by the River Regen), Regensburg is one of Germany's oldest towns. It was relatively spared from Allied bombings during World War II. Today, many flock to see the wonderfully intact old city and its many medieval structures. The 12th-century Stone Bridge was used by Crusaders en route to the Holy Land. The Regensburg Cathedral (or Dom St. Peter) is one of southern Germany's finest examples of Gothic architecture.

Appealing hotel - perhaps a bit too quirky

Reviewed By Roadboy

Made a good choice for a one-night stay, arriving by car, as outside the central restricted zone (yet only 10 minutes from the stunning heart of the city, over a canal lock then the Danube). Relatively expensive (€145 with breakfast for two), but we did get an immense room - very sparsely furnished, with idiosyncratic fittings, in places style over substance. An excellent buffet breakfast, and easy parking underneath.

During a month long visit to Europe we decided to give Regensburg a visit following some recommendations. The city itself is lovely with loads to do. Hotel Luis was a fantastic place to base ourselves from, a stones throw from the city centre. The staff were all lovely, very friendly and helpful with tips about where to go and what to do. The hotel was very rustic and trendy which gelled together seamlessly, we would definitely stay with them again!!

Comfortable and central

Reviewed By higvin

A classic case of a hotel in the German-speaking world which is old but you’d have trouble telling. The modern interior of this 19th century building is cold and without character, but includes comfortable, quiet rooms with air conditioning - a rare treat in this part of the world, which gets it from 3 to 4 stars. The buffet breakfast was good but at the time we visited, in the midst of Covid hysteria, required not only the dreaded face masks if you moved from your table, but the wearing of plastic gloves to put food on your plate - all of which was fiercely policed and something we mercifully didn’t encounter anywhere else in Europe. On the positive side, the hotel offered a quiet sleep in large beds and is within a very short walk of Regensburg’s historic centre.

Our nice little hotel is located in the heart of the city centre, just 7 minutes away from the train station and about 5 minutes away from the cathedral. The house is very unique in it's style and outstanding in the friendlyness of its staff. Enjoy our breakfast and our wonderful atmosphere

Fun place, well located, great value!

Exceptional staff, comfortable bed, great atmosphere, very quiet spot. It has some quirks - we chose to stay on the top floor, which would be tough with lots of luggage. Decent but small shower, wifi was too spotty for video calls, but otherwise a perfect spot. The breakfast was a solid offering of just about everything, and the staff and management could not have been nicer.

Quiet place in the Old Town

Fantastic location right over the bridge from the Old Town. Parking place nearby was included, which is always great. The room itself was spacious and clean, with a nice en suite bathroom. The breakfast was a typical spread of meats, cheeses, and cereals. Check-in was very smooth and check-out was even easier.

Liebevoll gestaltetes Hotel

Reviewed By Daniel B

Modern accommodations in beautiful historic building

Reviewed By AdventurousRetirees

This is a great experience. We were on the 3rd floor, creaky stairs and floors at varying angles, old beams and beautifully carved railings remind you that you are in a special building. Yet the rooms are very modern, comfortable beds, well designed for functional use. Nice bathroom and everything is super clean. And, oh, the breakfasts are fantastic. Great presentation of food, beautiful basket of fresh breads, delicious coffee. We were very comfortable here. Thank you for a great stay.

OK when by-passing

Good place as a one-day stop during a longer journey. In a dormant village neighbourhood. It has all you need: beer garden, evening meal, breakfast, bed but nothing else. Personnel is very friendly. Room size was good, clean and comfy. Bathroom with toilet very simple and somewhat outdated and door cannot be locked. Room (#3) overseeing beer garden and therefore a bit noisy. Wifi is dreadful, hardly any signal.

Hotel with small rooms

Reviewed By 623matejk

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel is relatively expensive if you look what you get, small room with small bathroom and tiny sink. Breakfast if you can call it so is good but funny, 2-4 bread, some type of salami but from each only a few pieces. You have to pay attention on stairs because the first one is higher then normal. But nevertheless staff is kind and helpful, hotel has a big free parking place and rooms have good sound protection and are clean. Location is good.
