An Amazing Weekend

We stayed at the hotel to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. We booked directly with the hotel which was easy and I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. Upon arrival a lovely bowl of fruit was waiting for us with Wishes from the hotel. The suite we booked was stunning and had a jacuzzi. Clean, comfortable and wonderful views of the river from the balcony. We also had dinner in the restaurant. It's a must as both the food and the service were excellent! Same applies for the Reception. Thank you all for a memorable stay! We will be back!

Peaceful and relaxing hotel

I ‘ve stayed for 4 nights and I it was perfect place to rest. The hotel was peaceful and relaxing, close to centre (about 30 minutes of walk). There are free parking spaces around. Room was very clean and comfortable, equipped everyday with water and coffee. With comfortable balcony. Air conditioning available in the room, good sized wardrobe, desk, fridge, hairdryer, iron, and board and a safe. There were plenty of electrical and USB outlets. A local cell phone placed in the room for free for local calls and web surfing! Breakfast is up to choose from the menu and are amazing for everybody’s choice. They have the bar with a view on the 4th floor where breakfast is served. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and warm. Thank you for the nice and cosy stay.

Beautiful room but without the expected facilities

Reviewed By Christina_Leonidas

We stayed in the junior suite and it was a beautiful room with a panoramic view of the mountain. The reception was not operating but a very polite lady came to meet us and give us the key. Because we stayed midweek, there was nothing opened around. In the evening, only the cafe of Mary was opened and it didn’t have many options. But the owner was a very kind lady and did her best to please us . She even gave us glass wines as the room didn’t have any . Back in the room, wanted to try the jacuzzi but it was not working . The bed was not very stable and the pillows were too hard (without having any other option ) . The mattress was not a good quality as well. So we woke up all rusty . Breakfast was served in a beautiful area . It was quite poor (not a value for money ) . The waitress was very polite though.

About the only decent, clean, reasonably prices guest house on the Turkish side of Nicosia (Lefkosa).

Reviewed By veryitchyfeet2

This guest house is in the Turkish part of Nicosia (Lefkosa) only a five minute walk away from the border which runs through the centre of the city, dividing it from the Greek side. The place is comfortable and clean with air-con (trust me, in the summer months you'll need it; it was between 38 and 41 degrees for the week that we were there in July). Most rooms have a private bathroom, but a couple have a shared bathroom which are much cheaper. If you rock up to see the rooms, insist to be shown the cheaper rooms with no bathroom. When I went to check the rooms I was not shown; my partner went back and he was. There's a pleasant outdoor area and garden to relax in. Cyprus, in general, especially accomodation, is not cheap and you will save quite a chunk if you use a shared bathroom (for the record, we mostly prefer private bathroom, but in this case the huge difference made it worth it as we are long-time travellers). I checked out several places, and this is really the best value for money you will get in the area!

If you can sleep through loud parties and couples having extremely loud sex above your room, this is the place for you

Reviewed By Hostelexperience2929

The guesthouse is very boho and cutely remodeled. That being said, the rooms are paper thin. I can hear everyone around me at all hours of the night. This includes the upstairs room having very loud sex, with a squeaky bed, the hotel/bar next door with very loud parties, and people outside on the sidewalk that are shouting. I didn’t get any sleep while staying there. The hall light is left on all night, making it difficult to sleep. If noise wasn’t an issue, this would be a pretty cute place to stay. The staff is very friendly, the location is close to the border, and the breakfast was good.

Don’t Expect a Hotel - Dusty and Noisy

Reviewed By heathermS6633TR

We booked the Cypriot Swallow following great reviews, including the Lonely Planet recommendation. However, it unfortunately ended up being one of the worst ‘hotels’ we have stayed at (calling it a guesthouse or apartment would be more accurate). The owner very kindly let us check in later (around 8pm) which, combined with the beautiful building, is the reason for 2 stars rather than 1. However, the check in was quite awkward and slow whilst she calculated how much we had to pay. Once this happened, she was keen to leave quickly, giving us little information and just saying ‘make sure to give a great review’. The room itself wasn’t clean covered in dust. It looked like it hadn’t been touched in a long time. The safe didn’t work, and on the second day, the shower didn’t either. We didn’t see any staff members until check out (where we were again told to ‘leave a great review’ without any questions about how our stay was) so these issues could be easily fixed - we would have been as well staying in a cheaper AirBnB. The worst part was undoubtedly the noise. Understandably, because it’s an old building, sound proofing will never be great. However, our room was right next to reception and we could hear absolutely everything. On our first night, a small group kept on ringing the doorbell after midnight before giving up and leaving. This made us feel unsafe. There was then a group, alongside the receptionist, who were very noisy at 7-8am each morning. Because there were no curtains, it was already light at this time so it was hard to get back to sleep (meaning we got less than 6 hours sleep due to the late night disturbances). There were also smokers in the courtyard and the smoke seeped quickly into our room, making it hard to breathe. We would’ve brought up these issues during our stay but there were no staff in the hotel to bring this up with except via WhatsApp. We’d highly recommend staying in North Nicosia but unfortunately not this hotel as the good reviews did not at all match our experience.
