One night stay at Honeyland Beach Resort
Reviewed By OluwanisolaThis is a serene location with well kept gardens and landscapes. We took some good photos. Staff are also friendly. We had planned to spend 3 nights at the Standard room @N60k per night. But we decided against it as the rooms are located at the beach front on a property across the road from their main property. The building was under lock and key. So we felt uncomfortable and unsecured to stay there as the only guest in that building which had unhindered access from the beach. We then took a deluxe room @ N80k per which is located at main property and well secured. Two issues with the room. One is thst it is outfitted with a very hard mattress that made our sleep uncomfortable it was like sleep on a plank. Tge second issue is that it has a water heater with about 2 liters tank which you are warned to turn off before using the shower. In essence one could not have a good hot shower, as the hot water ran out quickly. So we had ro spend only one night instead of 3 planned. We moved to another resort which met our needs. The other negative comment about the place is the joke of complimentary breakfast. We were given 2 slices of yam, not even adequatefor a child of 12 years. Most places would serve a buffet breakfast. I will advise that the resort should endeavour to keep their beach fron tidy as they do within the property. The place was littered with rubbish. For us it is the beach that is the main attraction to come there.

Reviewed By opeoreNot a great place at all... Horrible experience all through. I had gone over to view the place prior to booking 2 separate 3 bedroom duplexes for a 15 day stay over Christmas for 2 families. The situation of both duplexes were not ideal at the time as they needed significant repairs. The walls were very unkempt requiring a lot of plastering and painting to get it to a rent-able state. It was generally very smelly and looked untidy. The kitchen had some leaks as there was water all over the floor. Despite this, the lure of the location and the potential of the venue once the face-lift was done was endearing. On the promise the renovation would be done, we went ahead and booked the 2 three bedroom duplexes for 15 days over the Christmas break. Big Mistake! Upon arrival, everything looked good. The duplexes looked clean on face value, but that's where it stopped. Nothing worked. The air-conditioners broke down on a daily basis. There was no refrigerator or microwave. When you ask them for it, they'd have to go lift one from another room / apartment to bring over. It took 3 days to get a refrigerator and 2 days for a microwave. There was no gas for the gas cooker. We had to wait 3 days to get this delivered, and even after it was delivered, it did not work for another 2 days. There was a massive gas leak at some point and we had to beg them to remove the gas out of the apartment for our own safety. The gas engineer came over, tried fixing it, and suggested that it had now been fixed so the only way to test it was to light it up. This despite the fact the smell of gas in the apartment made staying inside it almost impossible. Light a match and we all go up in flames. The air-conditioners were a nightmare. After constantly reaching out to have our air-conditioners fixed, we gave up, and requested for a fan instead. After the first night of using the fan, we had to ask for another room / apartment with a working AC, which meant we had to leave the kids in the duplex overnight, whilst we want to sleep in another room. Thankfully, we had a nanny who could stay with them overnight. On one such night we spent in the separate apartment, we were startled in bed when a metal casing for the AC fell down in the middle of the night. Same issue, different flat We were provided with internet access, but don't even try to use it. It only works in the reception area. Signal strength is extremely poor inside the duplexes. We were told breakfast was included as part of the package, but we were refused this as they said we got a discount price. This despite us not being able to use any catering facilities in our room as we had no working fridge, freezer, microwave or cooker. DSTV - there was no digital TV access despite this being included as part of the package. Again, when we asked, they said they'd activate it initially, but that we'd have to wait until after boxing day. Eventually, on boxing day, they advised we activate it ourselves. After much discussions, we finally went over to the DSTV office and activated it. Only to then be told that the digital antennae into the back of the TVs are faulty. That took another 2 days to get an engineer to fix, all this time, our DSTV subscriptions, paid for by us, was running down. Overall, the staff tried a lot for us as they were always sympathetic to our plight and tried their best to fix the issues. They seemed aware of the underlying issues in the hotel which is to do with the lack of investment. None of the issues we raised were a surprise to them. The owner is also aware of the challenges, but always demonstrated an acute lake of empathy or willingness to even want to make the place better. I might have suggested that maybe we were unlucky with the duplex we were given, but the challenges were exactly the same for both duplexes. Infact, for the other duplex, there was a very large hole on the wall which seemed to have been covered by a wall painting which had now been 'borrowed' to another apartment NEVER EVER BOOK THIS PLACE. IT MADE OUR CHRISTMAS HELL!!!

Reviewed By waa1972The hotel is in dilapidated state to day the least. Stains on bedsheets and pillow cases. They had to bring in a water tanker to supply water to the hotel. The hotel stinks! And for that price?! Shame.

Reviewed By Zubaimaniatook a while to find the hotel, wrong address was listed on jovago, and wrong phone number too, tried calling the hotel for directions and the number listed there apparently belongs to a lady who is pissed to have people calling her, when trying to get the hotel!. hotel has small parking space, has a nite club inside, rooms are renovated and appear looked after. Major drawback was finding the beddings stained!..with stuff like sex fluid.urrrgggh. wonder how that happened.....old beddings or improper washing?..took staff about 25mins to get new beddings.......was mightily displeased, as this was happening about 11pm, when i checked in
