Driving down for about two and half hours from Zhongshan, Zuhai or Guangzhou, you come to Hailing Island. I love it! Nothing to do with horrible Hainan (Sanya), at least so as I experienced it. Unfortunately probably because of a lack of knowledge in tourism management Zhapo, the main coastal city is nothing but a dead place, especially at night. There's nothing but cheap shops all selling the same swim crap, some sea-food open restaurant that max. at 10pm they empty and eventually street food BBQ and coconuts. Nightlife equals to zero.
Fortunately though there's a fantastic, unique Restaurant named Italy Square where let me be honest you can eat the very best italian food in China. Absolutely highest quality. Besides pasta and sea food, I had a "Branzino in crosta di sale" that was even better than in Sicily.
Just walk the seaside pedestrian road and check for Italy Square: unforgettable food, loveliest people (Gigi & Wendy), typical atmosphere and environment as if you'd be in a Italian Trattoria.

As a new star in southwest canton in trems of sea shore travel spot, it really impresses you with its long soft, wild, white beach crawling with light blue clear sea water. Wearing a piece of sun glasses under a shelter, you definately will enjoy the scenery ahead of you with 10 miles long silk beach. Swimming, diving and even Surfing give you great experience. In all, its a highly recommended place to kick off your summer day.

You won't be surprised, if you've been elsewhere in coastal China before - crowds of people during peak season, there's a barriers, limiting your swimming exercises (and spoiling the whole enjoyment) and a number of lifeguards, stopping you from crossing those bounds, huge queues to a changing rooms/lockers. Nothing fancy & would recommend this beach only in case if you need to kill some time on Hailing.

The wearther in April turned out to be warmer than we thought -- the endless beach, silk-like water and tranquility made our brief visit perfect and memorable. Choice of hotel is limited but we chose to stay at the home rental at one of the largest property development there (Precious Coast). The room is perfect and the price is a great bargain. More importantly, the harmony of the tidal waves made our stay truly unforgettable. We will definitely return again in the summer.

Not ten miles, but 9.5km in length for the beach. A clean place for a rest. Not many commercial facilities, yet. Beach volley ball, fishing boats and a restaurant on the beach. Next to Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum which is worth a visit when in Hailing Island.
