The Stachelberg fortress was built for the defense of the republic in 1937-1938. It has never been completed and today visitors can admire both the strength of the building and the course of the building.

Adrspach-Teplice Rocks

Visited here in late May. Saying WOW doesn't described these absolutely stunning and mind blowing sandstone formations. We were part of a very small tour group. Our tour guide described different formations, names etc and led us through very good walkways to Waterfalls, through narrow passages, up and down some VERY steep steps (be warned!). Apparently some of the Narnia films were filmed here? So glad we were able to visit this place, probably if we hadn't been on this tour we would never have had the chance to enjoy such beauty. Highly recommended.

Amazing place! Must be the most nicest Zoo in Czech Republic! Fantastic African deco!
We have visited in summer holidays so it was busy, however we have arrived early morning and went straight on the Safari trip - guided tour. Our driver/guide was great, full of animal knowledge and very entertaining with very interesting facts. We were surprise how big this place is and how many animals were there.
Lots to do with children, massive rope park, adventure park and lots activities on each corner of the Zoo. Animals here look very happy and well look after. Lots of places to get food and beverage and large souvenir shop too.
Overall? Great place to spend with family and friends, we have spent there a whole day!

Mountaineering Museum Dolni Adrspach

Quite different from Hruboskalsko in Česky raj. There is a well placed walking trail for a couple of hours of slow walking, Some rocks are in interesting forms, between the rocks weaves narrow ravines. Some stairs are quite steep and at least one gap between the rocks maybe an obstacle for larger people.
The site can be accessed by the train and by car. There are quite a large parking places (but you have to buy tickets) and the entry is also charged, but it is worth to pay, because the site is well kept.

We had a family weekend down south of Poland with couple of friends too and we decided to go for a short trip to see Teplicke Skaly (Rock City). It was 45 min. ride from the place we stayed.
It's easy to get there with GPS. Plenty of parking space but be aware that it was first weekend of September so not quite peak of summer season.
Family admission is 170Kč. There is beautiful pond/lake just in front of the entrance. Unfortunately - swimming is not allowed. Shame, because it was hot as hell!
You walking along clearly marked path. Views are amazing! There are some steep walk inns and walk downs but not many. I was with my kids 8 and 10 and they made it .
We spend there c.a. 3 hours. There is restaurant where you can have cold one and simple meal. You need to be prepared to pay 100Kč/person/meal.
I recommend to exchange PLN or EUR to Kč before you get to Adrspach, because difference is huge!

On the edge of Trutnov you will become immersed in the times of our ancestors. You can try processing flax, preparing yarn, or weaving some fabric just like in the times when cotton-spinners produced the famous flax linen in their cottages in the Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains. In the craftsman’s workshop you can try one of the textile-making techniques and take your very own product home.
