Amongst many ordinary tourist restaurants in St Raphael this one stands out above the rest. Tucked away behind the station it has real character and local atmosphere. Very friendly host and an individual décor. The menu is short but has enough variety to suit most tastes although probably not for kids. Food quality is good but not gastronomic and portion sizes are very big. Certainly worth a visit.

Menara is a Moroccan restaurant, open for lunch Thursday , Friday , Saturday and Sunday . In the evening we welcome you from Tuesday to Saturday from 19:30 . We serve couscous and tagines prepared in the purest Moroccan tradition. We can prepare your take-out order , half day in advance. Reservation highly recommended.

I have been delayed writing this review as my husband and I were here in August 2015, on returning home we had a family bereavement, and I forgot to write a review but this wonderful friendly restaurant deserves to be shared with others. We loved it so much at this hidden gem of a restaurant at the side of the Basilica that I felt I must still write about our experience. We were unlucky on our first visit as we arrived without booking and it was full. We booked in advance for the following week, but were unable to sit in the garden area. On arrival our wonderful hostess and chef brought a table just for us two outside the restaurant at the side of the Basilica and it was a wonderful gesture, and so romantic! Our tagines were the best we have tasted and we come from London where there is so much choice and the red wine recommended by the chef's husband was an excellent choice. The hospitatility shown to us by our hosts was wonderful and they made us feel so welcome. If we are back this way again in August we will book in advance next time. As you stand in front of the Basilica, La Manara is to the left of the Basilica down the small alley way.

A wonderful setting, friendly staff including a delightful restaurant dog that was good to our dog, plus great food---can't ask for more!! We will return often!
My mushroom ravioli was only 16 euros, my husband's seafood risotto, while a bit more, was delicious. The house wine, served in various carafe sizes, is excellent. Friendly, good prices, beautiful beside the water/boats, makes for a wonderful meal!

This place is down a side street. I booked by phone from the UK. We elected to eat outside owing to the hot weather and not at THE table indoors. We had excellent meals
My wife took a tender, well-cooked duck and i had a daurade risotto. It was creamy and the fish was cooked superbly. The staff were cheerful and efficient. Recommended unhesitatingly

Had looked forward to eating here again , and not disappointed . The restaurant is a rather plain building in a centre commercial . Quite a lot of concrete and glass . We were in the conservatory adjacent to the outdoor Seating area , the room felt airy and spacious , tables well apart . Our fellow diners were amiable . The Patron was much in evidence , discussing the menus , and taking our order . The " carte " items are not individually priced , you elect to have a ( say ) €33 . Menu and this means you can have 3 courses , with a supplement for steak (€4) .I had a brochette of scallops , which were perfectly cooked - not slimy , not hard , and seared just enough . I had the steak , from a breed I have not heard of , absolutely delicious , served with a red wine sauce , beans and sautéed chips . I had a chocolate pudding which had been just overcooked , so it was a little dry , and had that slightly burnt taste . My wife chose the pancakes , which she said were light and perfectly cooked , but served layered with Chantilly cream , which she did not enjoy , and did not think looked a professional dish . Service throughout was excellent , we had a super evening , pity about the dessert , we noticed as we left , a table of nearly 20 , which perhaps had overstretched the kitchen . PD.

Just arrived in St raphael Area on a Monday and headed for the port.
First Restaurant we came across and while everywhere else was quiet le Coelacanthe was humming. While not fine dining was good food at a good price and a pleasant experience. Worth a stop in if you're in the area. Might need a reservation as we were made feel lucky to get a place without one - even on a Monday in June.

We found La Creperie D'Emelie after we had taken a Sandwich lunch and wanted something pretty light for dinner; in particular, we got to hankering after a decent omelette or a crepe.
This restaurant was just what we needed.
Firstly, although it is right on the sea front on Frejus Plage, it feels like an oasis from much of the road noise and from the pizza and burger places that are nearby.
Secondly, the welcome was warm and friendly and the service (from what I took to be a Mother and Daughter team) was simply charming.
Thirdly, there is a wide variety of omelettes, crepes and galettes on offer.
Fourthly, when our food arrived, it was beautiful and the humble ham, cheese and mushroom omelette was elevated into an excellent dish by the addition of a beautiful salad and dressing. The crepes, flambéed in Grand Marnier, that we ordered to finish our meal were special too, not least for the theatrical manner in which they were presented at our table.
If ever you get tired of the daily grind of the pizza and burger joints, the brasseries and trattorias that make up much of the Frejus / St Raphael seafront please give La Creperie d'Emelie a try - if you are like us, you will not regret visiting this excellent little place.

Our original choice of restaurant was closed, their loss, our gain! Our waitress was delightful and spoke amazing English (again, to our shame) the restaurant is an amazing use of space. I had veal dish of the day, husband had razor clams in snail butter, black Angus steak & a fruit pancake. Hadn't noticed it was the #1 on tripadvisor, can see why!

Dinner for 9 last evening, great hospitality, food and wine. Friendly informal service.
Complimentary olive tapanades with toasted mini breads a nice touch to start.
We then variously had: tuna, salads, charcuterie as appetisers.
Steaks, fish platters, Linguine & Steak tartare and a number of bottles of the €25 Rose.
No room for delicious sounding desserts, but we had various good coffees (for France) and "digestives" on the house to finish.
€60 a head with tip & bottled water.
Genuine friendly farewell. Would go again if I/ we come back to Agay.

We have been coming to St Raphael for some years now and have tried many of the restaurants purporting to offer fine dining, including Stephane Leger on the new port. None however has offered the combination of good food and excellent service that this restaurant offers.
The street entrance is rather unpromising but the courtyard in which the restaurant is located is really lovely with an open roof for the summer months.
The service throughout the meal was attentive without being overbearing and the waiting staff were uniformly charming and friendly.
As for the food, it was excellent with some real high points. The amuse bouche of truffle flavoured potato veloute set the tone-beautifully whipped with a lovely hint of truffle.
I had the slow cooked egg as a starter, again with a truffle flavour but also with a reduction of meat juices to give the dish some real body.
For my main course I ate the veal sweetbreads with seasonal vegetables and it was excellent. Rich meaty flavours, well balanced by the vegetables.
For desserts we chose the Limoncello souffle and the vacherin. Both again very well executed. The souffle managed to avoid the sometimes cloying sweetness of Limoncello and was light and fluffy while the vacherin was a lovely composition of red fruits served in what seemed to be a broken egg shell made of meringue. Visually fantastic.
We had two glasses of champagne to start with and had a bottle of Provencal red (Chateau Rasque) at €45. Our total bill was €192. Not cheap but considering the experience we had, not bad value either when taken against restaurant prices in this part of France.
We will be back.
