Guci Hot Spring

Reviewed By nuningloft - Karawang, Indonesia

In my imagination there'll be only a large pool in Guci. But actually there's a lot of spot. In yhe entrance we have to pay arround 20K per pax include the car that we ride. After a beautiful scenery of rice field in terasiring display. All are in green. But one thing that make a dissapointed for the visitor. To enter some spot called Wagu (Wana Guci) we have yo pay some amount of money again. Oops... not enter, only across some street near. To reach the hot pool we have to use that street. Seems, everything was calculated by amount of money. For the pool it was good so far, only the wash area isn't good enough.

When we think about the salty egg, we are going to think of a very salty egg. But this is different. The egg has some kind of salty egg; baked salty egg and normal salty egg. It is not too salty and the quality of the egg is good. Try it!

Tek Hay Kiong Temple

Reviewed By Raymond W - Chengdu, China

This diminutive Chinese temple is one of the oldest on Java, dating back to the 17th century. Back then, as now, China was a huge market for Indonesian commodities, though it was more likely to be pepper, nutmeg or cubeb back then, whereas today China has a vast appetite for Indonesian coal.
We were lucky enough to be in Tegal for Chinese New Year so this place was a hive of activity at that time, with cymbals and gongs clanging. It would be worth stopping by for a quick look at any time of year though.

Alam Indah Beach (PAI / Pantai Alam Indah) is the nearest attraction from the city, but the place is not so good and not so bad. Alam Indah Beach has grey colored sand and you can't find any shells here but you can enjoy a good sunset at this beach.

Taman Rakyat Slawi Ayu

Reviewed By Yrref W - Jakarta

Pancasakti University Building

Reviewed By Raymond W - Chengdu, China

This building was designed by Maclaine Pont, one of the great colonial architects of the Dutch East Indies. He is most famous for his Indo-European design for ITB in Bandung, which dates to the 1920s and is featured in numerous coffee-table books. However, on our trip to Tegal we came across this magnificent colonial building from around 1911. On doing some further research we learned that it too was designed by Maclaine Pont and is his oldest surviving project.
Unlike his later innovative Indo-European work, this building is more typically colonial in style, however the extensive use of wood shows that he is already interested in local materials and styles. This handsome building can be found near the Tegal Railway Station (also worth checking out) and is easily our favourite building in this hot, sleepy city. We only gave it three stars because it is used today as a university campus and you can't really do much more than stand in front of it. It would certainly be interesting to poke around inside if you could. As architecture, this is a four star building, but as a tourist sight, it probably won't divert most people for long.
