The National Congress Palace is a multifunctional complex working as a state residence, a museum and a modern congress venue. It is located on the Gulf of Finland coastline. The gem of the NCP is The Konstantin Palace housing chambers of the Russian President. The palace features an exceptional collection of Russian art. Wine-tasting in the palace cellars is available. Feast and business events can be organized at the NCP. Part of the complex is a 5* Baltic Star Hotel and the Villas offering luxury accommodation.

This palace was recently restored and is used as Putins residence when he is in the area. World leaders meet here for summits and talks. The top observation cupola has been transformed into a replica ships interior and is extraordinary. You visit a good many rooms with a lot of recent history attached.

We traveled to Peterhof Grand Palace by commuter train from Baltiisky Railway Station (Baltic Railway Station) to Novly Peterhof (New Peterhof) Station. From here, we took UberX to the Palace gate.
The entrance was poorly signposted but we walked in the general direction of the palace and reached the palace park. During winter season, there is no charge to enter Lower Park The entrance to the Grand Peterhof Palace is located in the centre of the building flanked by the Special Treasury Exhibition and the Church Wing, at the further end.
We had earlier done online booking for all 3 attractions. The Special Treasury was worth visiting and Grand Peterhof Palace was not to be missed. The Church Wing ... well, in my opinion only if you have the time.
The exchange of the online booking voucher for the entry ticket was straightforward. Audio guide was available only for the Grand Peterhof Palace. One tip is to bring your own earphones to plug into the audio guide. Tour of Special Treasury was conducted only in Russian.
Grand Peterhof Palace has been masterfully restored and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Peterhof is comparable to Versailles Palace in almost every aspects. The Lower Park was very beautiful in winter and the Cascade was stunning even though the water Fountain was not functional in winter. One advantage of visiting during winter is the smaller crowd.

This castle and grounds are absolutely beautiful and remind me of Versailles in France and Schloss Schunbrunn in Vienna. It is a must see and will take at least one day of sightseeing.

With snow still very much around, and crunching underfoot, we looked down from the main Terrace overlooking the Fountains (not working) and the sumptuous gilded statuary surrounding the cascades. Peter the Great truly created his own grand version of Versailles!

Напротив «Ленты» и «К-Раута», прямо на Санкт-Петербургском шоссе, расположен почти трехсотлетний монастырь: Свято-Троицкая Сергиева Приморская мужская Пустынь.
Приклоните голову и проходите через калитку в воротах...
Попав на территорию монастыря, глаз сразу упал на информационные щиты, где много интересной информации и исторических фотографий. От того монастыря, каковым была пустынь в царские времена, осталось не слишком много. Тем не менее, посмотрев на старинные фотографии и план на территории, можно без труда представить, что она из себя представляла когда-то...
Жаль, что большая часть храмов в монастыре не сохранились. Стрелочки-указатели показывают дорогу к трем уцелевшим храмам: собору Сергия Радонежского, храму Григория Богослова и храму мученика Валериана.
Слева от северного корпуса находится одно из самых интересных сохранившихся сооружений монастыря – желтая угловая башня-библиотека, авторства Трезини )))
Большая часть монастырского двора когда-то представляла собой большое кладбище, полное известных фамилий: Апраксины, Строгановы, Шереметевы, Чичерины, Горчаков, Толстые, князья Ольденбургские, внук Суворова, князья Мурузи, Потемкины… Здесь хоронили петербургскую знать, и, судя по тем, что чудом сохранились, родственники покойных не скупились на богатые надгробья. Из исторических надгробий и склепов мало что сохранилось, большей частью стоят деревянные кресты с известными фамилиями...
Радует, что монастырь возрождается, хотя и медленно.

Берег Финского залива. Стрельна. В двух шагах - Константиновский дворец - Дворец Конггрессов. От Санкт-Петербурга - рукой подать. И чуть западнее, ближе к заливу, скульптурная группа Михаила Шемякина "Царская прогулка".
Чайки, запах моря, почти безлюдье, ветер.
Обязательно! Обязательно остановите маршрутку, машину, электричку и придите сюда, на берег.
Ерунду говорят те, кто обсуждает маленькую голову Петра. Люди! Ау! Вы вообще-то в курсе, что это практический портрет нашего царя, а не придумка Шемякина? А ничего, что историю свою надобно знать? А? Может быть, стоит посмотреть на "Восковую парсуну", чтобы понять, что нет насмешки над царем и если вам хочется "ржать", то это не имеет отношения к скульптуре Шемякина? Пардон, но это имеет отношение лишь к породе конкретного зрителя, к сожалению...
Тем, кто ржать не умеет, предлагаю провести у этой скульптуры времени несколько больше, чем позволяет экскурсовод японским туристам, высыпающим из автобуса на фотосессию...
Итак, море, чайки, ветер - и всероссийский самодержец, озирающий просторы созданной им империи... Заслуживает вообще-то уважения...

Монастырь Свято-Троицкая Сергиева Приморская мужская Пустынь - очень намоленное место с богатейшей историей.
Сейчас богослужения проходят в восстановленной церкви Сергия Радонежского с красивым ярко-розовым фасадом. Вход отмечен гранитными колоннами. Храм двухэтажный, имеет нижнюю (с захоронениями) и верхнюю церковь. Сейчас на первом этаже находится церковная лавка, а на втором, собственно, проходят службы. Я случайно попала на вечернее воскресное богослужение, и была очарована прекрасным пением монахов, которое через динамики транслируется на первый этаж и во двор монастыря.

Obviously the "trick fountains" of Peterhof were rebuilt after the devastation of World War II; but one wonders how ancient were the original ones.
It's commonly believed that they have been created by the will of the same Peter I the Great. It may be that there are documents to prove it; but the information I've read, talks about the creation of these Fountains beginning from the second half of the eighteenth century, so after the Peter's reign.
However, even if they are uncertain in their origin, the trick Fountains are fun and original.
Why they are fun, I don't need to explain. I say they are original, because I know only one example more (even older) of Fountains aimed at watering guests, still working: the Hellbrunn Palace park, near Salzburg, Austria. It may be that there are other examples, but I don't know any.

Перейдя от пресс-центра Константиновского Дворца (который на берегу залива) через Портовый канал по горбатому пешеходному мостику, вы обнаружите крохотную портовую часовню Николая Чудотворца. Часовня белокаменная и одноглавая, с голубым куполом.
В часовенке молятся перед выходом в залив и поминают души погибших моряков. Проходя мимо, я, честно говоря, поразилась, что двери гостеприимно открыты и внутри никого нет. Разумеется, вошла, раз можно так запросто войти и побыть самому с собой ))) Горит лампадка, висят иконы, среди которых удивительной красоты большая мозаичная икона святителя Николая, интересные исторические справки, на кресте - имена усопших стрельнинских рыбаков и яхтсменов.
Рядом с часовней находится Поклонный крест памяти Святых Новомучеников, убиенных в Стрельне в 1918 году, среди которых был настоятель Казанского собора.
Очень спокойное и красивое место, смотрите фотографии )))
