Nice area for one or two days. I would recommend for children over 10 years old. A lot of fast rides and also rides for little ones. Junker is very fast ride for daredevils! It should be more water elements than just two rides. Remember to buy Your SECOND day ticket inside of the area (info office). They don´t have tickets at gate at all!

Aalto Center of Seinajoki

Reviewed By TravellerJake - Seinajoki, Finland

This is the only complete area in the world designed by the world famous architect and the creator of modern functionalism!
Aalto center has several buildings designed by Alvar Aalto. It's hard to believe that some of these buildings were actually designed already in the 50's, since they are ultra modern still today! Born in this region, Aalto got some of his ideas from the real life. For example the city hall looks like a grand piano. The church tower, is actually the only tall building ever designed by Aalto.
While visiting here, also don't miss the brand new Apila library! That building is not designed by Aalto, but it has also participated to several international architectural competitions with a good success. Most likely, it is the most beautiful library in the world!

We had a short visit to this center with our relatives. The location used to be an ammunition factory that exploded in the 1970s with catastrophic results. Forty people died. This culture center is built on the remains of the factory and depicts the history of the factory as well as modern culture in the area. The center also has the city library of the town Lapua within the center.

Civil Guard and Lotta Svard Museum

Reviewed By Wallriver - Seinajoki, Finland

Civil Guard and Lotta Svard Museum was designed by world famous architect Alvar Aalto (1898-1976). It is extraordinary that in the very same town, Seinäjoki, there are works from an artist’s early years (1924-26) as well as modern buildings, so called Aalto Center. This attraction consists of two buildings, the main house and a bit Mediterranean style back yard house. In the garden, there is also a statue of Civil Guard soldier.
This house served as Civil Guard’s Ostrobothnian region headquarter, where later Colonel Matti Laurila was its leader. The Civil Guard and Lottas were denied by Russians in the Moscow Truce in 1944. They had been too strong actors in preventing Soviet Union to conquer Finland.
After the Second World War Colonel Laurila was living in that house with her wife until his death. He had cherished the memory of the Civil Guard Headquarter as well as arcitecht Aalto’s early work. He had let make only minimal modernizations in the house, despite it was his home. Consequently, after Colonel Laurila’s passing there was a ready made museum for architecture and Civil Guards and its female part, the Lottas.
The museum represents the history of the Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd but it also tells about the War of Independence as well as the Winter War and Continuation War against the Soviet Union and the War in Lapland, against the German Army.
