木材で出来てる復元天守だ！江戸時代に新しく出来たような中は美しい。
Komine-jō, located in Shirakawa and so also known as Shirakawa-jō, is a reconstructed castle. It has however been reconstructed in wood, the original materials in which it was built, and so we may call it an exact replica, which includes many defensive features. The interior is beautiful. You can see here what the castle was like when it was freshly built in the Edo Period.
A history of destruction and rebirth:
First built by Yūki Chikatomo in 1340. The Yūki clan were defeated by Hideyoshi in 1590. Under the Tokugawa Bakufu, Niwa Nagashige was transferred to the Daimyate (the Tokugawas would switch around Daimyō to weaken their power bases). In 1632 he reconstructed the castle as the seat of his power.
The castle was destroyed in 1866 during the civil war and rebellions that erupted before the Meiji Restoration, being destroyed in the Battle of Aizu by Satchō forces when rebels took control of the castle. Tsuruga-jō was also damaged in that battle. The donjon was reconstructed in 1991.

私が行ったのは冬で、天気もどんよりしていて、人気のない時期で寒々しい景色でした。
湖（元は湿地帯だったのを湖にした）は1周約2キロで散歩がてらに歩くと1時間前後で廻れます。
春や秋の桜や新緑、紅葉の時期は良い景色を楽しめると思います。
時間が無い方は湖の北側に見どころが集中しているので南湖神社や南湖だんごの出店、白河ラーメンの店などを周られることをお勧めします。

The japanese garden is beautiful, I could have stayed for hours just admiring it.
I felt just alone, me and my soul and it's relieving to feel this sometimes. It's good to spend time just thinking and admiring the beauty of nature. So poetic.
I did the tea's ceremony for the first time and it's very interesting.
I really loved the green tea and the japanese biscuit, the respectful silence, our beautiful host guiding the ceremony...

I visited this National Historic Site with my wife. The exact location of the gateway to Tohoku area had been lost until it was determined in the Edo era. As such, there is not much to see.

渓谷に架かる雪割橋から見下ろす景色は奇岩怪石も見えて絶景。特に紅葉や新緑の時期は最高です。
橋のたもとにはお土産さんもあり、ソフトクリームやお団子を食べることができます。
駐車場も近いので、さほど歩かずに済むのもよいところ。
ただ、橋はかなり高く隙間も多いので、高所恐怖症の人はあまり端に近づかないほうがよいでしょう。

県道７６号線白河の関跡に隣接した「道の駅」的施設です。駐車場も整備されて、ツーリングの拠点にもなっているようです。そば打ち体験できる水車小屋など白河地方の雰囲気に浸ることが出来ます。芭蕉と曾良の像も建てられ、「奥の細道」の雰囲気が感じられます。遊歩道の散策も楽しいことでしょう。

雪割橋を渡るとカルミアという売店と数台の駐車場がありますが、
さらに遊歩道を車で奥に進みましょう。
突き当たりに２０台ほど停めれる駐車場があります。
西の郷遊歩道を満喫したい方は、この駐車場を利用したほうが良いでしょう。
駐車場の東側は山道コースです。すぐに屏風岩、めがね岩といった奇岩や那須見台での見晴らしが楽しめます。その後川沿いのルートへ向かうと、憩いの場という河原に降りれる場所があります。（川沿いにしばらく歩けますがやがて行き止まります）
せせらぎの音を聞きながら東に行くと、突如、ウッドデッキのような遊歩道が現れ水音が増してきます。みのり隧道をぬけると瀞の大滝（人口堰滝）があります。折り返してもよいですが、山側のルートもあり、駐車場に戻れます。
駐車場の西側は滝見コースです。熊のすべり台、一休みの滝、おろちが滝、雪割橋展望台など見所がたくさんあります。いずれも遊歩道から一人用の狭い九十九折の鉄階段を下りていく感じで河原に行けます。河原は基本的に岩場で滝のすぐ近くまで行けますが、水が流れている部分もありすべりやすいので注意が必要です。
熊のすべり台は岩場の上を川が流れる感じで、濡れてよい準備があれば遡行可能かもしれません。少なくともかなり、すべり台に近づけるでしょう。
一休みの滝はすぐ近くで滝がみれます。滝の右側が岩の斜面になっていて、歩いて登ることができます。一休みの滝の下流は阿武隈川と合流している和楽渓と呼ばれる部分で中洲にある岩と滑滝が他には見かけない絶景となっています。
私は今回、多分８割がたのスポットを訪れたと思いますが４時間かかりました。鑑賞ポイントが多いので、十分な時間をもって出かけましょう。

ＪＲ白河駅の出入口を出て横へ行くと、駅舎の建物内にありました。小峰城などへの行き方、白河ラーメンの店を教えてもらえました。パンフレットも多くあるので、観光で来た人は寄ってみると便利なこと間違いないです。
