The name comes from the combination of two of its suburbs, Sandown and Bryanston. 6 Things I really like about Monte Casino- Our family really enjoyed the day. It is kitsch and cool and worth a visit- super fun! 1 It transports you, it is fantasy, it's an escape from politics, crime, the economy- the everyday worries that South Africans face. 2 Musical Theatre at Monte Casino- We enjoyed lunch and went on to see Chicago. Polished perfection. A wonderful showcase for our abundant local talent and the excitement of seeing a musical theatre star from abroad added to the experience. 3 There is something for everyone. You do not have to be a gambler to be entertained. 4 Immaculate- it is really sparkling clean. The public restrooms are pristine despite how many people go in and out of them. 5 Food- Casa Bella -questo ristorante è divino ( one must praise them in Italian even if you have to copy and paste, because you aren't)- really Bellissimo-order the pizza. 6 Cherry on top- you buy your parking ticket upon entry and it is only R10.00. That was a pleasant shock- I expected that it would be way more. Recommended for locals and visitors from abroad.

This is a great mall and its huge. The selection of shops is excellent, from designer to regular stores. A walkway to Mandella square when you are done to hang out.

We were there for Hostex 2020 and the Barista Championship hosted by SCASA. The venue is grandly designed and I especially appreciated the art features. Very large spaces for exhibitions. Very professional and efficient staff

Great meeting place, dominated by the giant statue of the great man and surrounded by big, glitzy restaurants, mainly grill houses serving gigantic portions of meat and fish.

Really great short excursion for reptile-mad kids. Very well maintained by knowledgeable enthusiasts who clearly have the animals’ best interests at heart. Our son was especially keen on spending most of his time studying the black mamba and other venomous snakes - very exciting! We also got to hold various animals, zip line over the croc enclosures, and top of the day with a pretty decent pizza. Would highly recommend.

The children love it here, favourites are the walk through aviary and especially the venomous snake room. The show is good too. Top tip is to go early and you can have the place to yourself. The play area is nice for younger kids.

The Teatro offers great, world-class productions in a comfortable environment. Lots of parking, easy access as well as a lot of restaurants and coffee shops to choose between if you want to grab something to eat before or after the theatre. Also conveniently situated from all regions in Johannesburg. Definitely worth visiting
