After visiting a couple of times Muelle de las Ánimas and going this weekend to Aucar, I think Aucar is a much better place.
More accesible, less crowded, quiet and well preserved.
It is not a long walk, but you can enjoy a walk on the island, the island Beaches, watch the tides and the thousands of birds around.
I think it is a must of Chiloe.

Small waterfall outside the village of Teneum.
A short and fairly easy walk from the parking lot to the waterfall. Beautiful vertikal and cascading waterfall approx. 30 meters high. When we visited in January there was only one waterfall, but when the water level is higher there are three Waterfalls beside each other. We also saw some hummingbirds in the flowering bushes by the fall.
Entrance fee of 1000 pesos. Restrooms are available.

A smallish free museum looking at the history of the local area. Well worth a look and takes around 1hr to see everything.

Magical sunrise canoe trip :-) I don't even like boats/water that much and was very apprehensive about it all.
The huge Chilean rhubarbs on the water's edge are also quite something to behold.
What makes this experience so special is the whole sunken forest landscape, so you're surrounded by dead tree branches sticking up out of the water, that you can hardly see at first, as it grows lighter they start appearing through the mist ... Its definitely eery, ephemeral, changing, unique. on a windless day the water is a mirror , the quality thereof so clean ... saw quite a few birds including kingfisher. definitely for nature lovers.
The lodge: "true experience of sustainability" is spot on. I have a lot of respect for the owners and what they've achieved.
Only negative is that your fellow guests might be "green/eco" type snobs from wealthy first world countries trying to prove their greenness by visiting these kinds of spots. sad, I know.

I wish I had gotten more things here. There are good prices. You can find higher quality at some of the boutique kind of shops around Chile, but here you can find good prices for products that are made in Chile. There are many handicraft markets in Chile that have junk that was made in China. I think this place is a step or two up from those. The sweaters are not handmade, but the wool is likely Chilean. It is a good place to get souveniers. The things we found in boutique handcraft shops in Santiago were more stylish and some were handmade, but there is more variety here and there are many things here that you will not find other places in Chile, at least not at reasonable prices. Particularly, the wooden objects and basketry are good to buy here. There are some interesting sweaters, but you have to search through some less interesting ones to find them. There are some unique objects if you really look. You can find better wall hangings elsewhere, however.

This small museum is the original house where the writer lived, which was located in Huequi some 3 miles north. The house was uprooted and transported by sea, floating by itself.to its current location and converted into a museum.

Not the most exciting national park I've been to but I guess it's a nice place to visit if you have kids.
The entrance Fee (4,000 pesos per person - foreigners / 2,000 pesos per person- Chileans) is extortionate considering what the park actually offers (which isn't much).
The walks are very easy but some of the trails were very muddy at parts and should be maintained better.
The walk to the sand dunes isn't anything special either. The beach is okay I guess.
If it was free entry or at least half the price then I might bother coming here.
