10 Things to Do in Porto Cervo That You Shouldn't Miss

July 20, 2017 Major Galusha

Once an exclusive retreat for the crème de la crème of society, Porto Cervo is still one of the world’s most luxurious resorts, but thanks to the 2004 opening of an airport in nearby Olbia, you don’t have to own a megayacht to vacation here. You do, however, need to realize this is definitely not a backpack-and-Eurail Pass destination. Designer boutiques, luxury spas, fine restaurants and exclusive nightspots abound.

Stella Maris

The whitewashed exterior of Stella Maris is prominent landmark looking over the Porto Cuervo harbour. Inside, this Gaudi-esque style church has a stunning, yet simple interior, complete with an El Greco painting hanging near the door. The church was built in the 1960s and designed by Michele Busiri Vici. Very peaceful.

Phi Beach disco

One of the most beautiful settings I have ever visited, the most romantic sunset possible and stunning surroundings. Phi Beach rocks in the summer, from the moment you arrive you are escorted by beautiful hostesses to your table. Everyone turns up on Sundays for a fantastic sundowner party. Classy and Elegant location, superb bar and amazing sound and music set up. The restaurant itself is top notch set right over the water, with first class service. Its not for the faint hearted when it comes to prices but neither is it a crazy daisy place and you can enjoy to rub shoulders with just about anyone in a beautiful setting. If you like this scene then its a must !!

Spiaggia del Pevero

Reviewed By DunelmArts - Aberdeen, United Kingdom

In October, the beach wasn’t at all crowded and the cafes had closed. The pale sandy beach is truly beautiful and the sea is sparkling turquoise and very clear. Paddling along the shore, I could see several small fish swimming in the shallows. There were several boats moored in the bay, no doubt enjoying the view. I can imagine in the summer it’s very crowded, but out of season it’s very tranquil, although you will need to provide your own refreshments.

Beautiful sea near baia Sardinia

Reviewed By Martyn C - Sittingbourne, United Kingdom

We were spoilt by having this beach close to Hotel Villa Gemella where we stayed. We went there first day, it's very clean, very clear, gently shelving and protected being in a sheltered bay. We did try other Beaches but nothing came close. I'm sure some others do but wind spoiled some and the weed it then deposited caused a mess. We kept going back, it was always worth it!!

Marco and his team offered a very professional and friendly diving experience, taking time and patience to ensure that the dives were tailored to the specific individual. His knowledge and experience of the most appropriate places to dive for viewing aquatic life was commendable. I really enjoyed diving with Areamare and would recommend highly for anyone considering this in Sardinia; I will definitely return if I happen to be in the area again.

Spiaggia Capriccioli

The Capriccioli peninsula must be one of the best places along the Costa Smeralda.
Capriccioli beach (actually 2 beaches: Capriccioli West and C. East) is one of around 10 Beaches around the peninsula; all are exellent Beaches. It's a matter of taste, weather & wind conditions which beach one chooses.
The Capriccioli beach is perhaps the easiest accessible by road and with a relatively large parking next to the beach.
There is also a tourist information office in the beach bar, very helpful.
Between the beach bar and the beach, there is a small park-like area with trees where you may relax in the shadows.

We had a great day's sailing with skipper, Marco.
Everything worked like clockwork with a beautiful modern boat, excellent lunch and expert sailing in quite challenging conditions.
This is a wonderful way to experience the outlying Sardinian Islands and is highly recommended.
The only problems we had were navigating their Italian website, actually making a booking and finding the embarkation point.
But keep trying. It's worth it.

La Celvia Beach

Reviewed By roaming13 - London, United Kingdom

It is fair to say that Sardinia has fabulous Beaches. It is known for this also in Costa Smeralda. There are many- but a great beach thus really is- even in busy season. Last time we came here end August/beginning September- much better than mid- August where you feel the season peaks. But the beach people who run the sun beds were very kind, and you become part of the locals once they see you every day- shame, yes we did! There is parking near the beach, a bike cost €2.50 parking, and near this is a fun food bar- ridiculously busy, but still good.
The beach has a mix of locals, tourists and regulars. And there are plenty of little Beaches nearby if you want to spread your wings. But truly- go in September, so much easier.
