Gua Maria Sawer Rahmat Kuningan

Reviewed By Andreyoso S - Jakarta, Indonesia

The place was located not far from Cirebon city (appr. 1 hour) and 3 hours from Jakarta (with no traffic). Getting here is quite easy using google map/waze. The place is mostly for Catholics pilgrims, but non-catholics could also enjoy the walk and view of Mt Ciremai that could be seen from there. The place is exactly right on the foot of Mt. Ciremai which is the highest mountain in West Java.
For pilgrims who come here, you can do the way of holy cross (which reminds me of the one in Lourdes) and pray on the cave of Mary. There is a drinkable spring of water also in the cave, so pilgrims could bring their empty bottle if they want bring back the water. The walk is fairly refreshing due the nice air and lots of trees. This is suitable for all age group. Really recommended place when in Kuningan

Taman Purkabala Cipari

This site dates back 3000 years to the very earliest period of Indonesian state-making. A thousand years before Christ, people in Java lived in walled settlements marked by standing stones. This indicated that the early Javanese were already religious people- a trait they still possess today. Excavated in the 1960s by Czechoslovak archaeologists, there is a small site museum which displays adzes and other aspects of their material culture. The beautiful location beneath the 3000 metre high peak of Mount Ciremai also adds to the appeal. This is a good site for history buffs but the average tourist may be underwhelmed..

Objek Wisata Cibulan

In this place, we can see and swim with big fishes that the legend said was from King Siliwangi's guard.
There are 2 big pond, one was crowded with people swimming with the fishes while at another pond people mostly just give food and touch the fish.
Another attraction was 7 spring that King Siliwangi use in the past. No entrance fee, but we expected to donate voluntarily. A "guide" who take us there also ask for this "voluntary donation". Enjoying these spring was taking no more than 10 minutes and practically nothing to see inside. I don't recommend this attraction, but if you curious, just give small amount of money (2000 - 5000 rupiah is very enough, I think).
You can also try fish spa here (5000 rupiah for unlimited time). Unfortunately, the pond was dirty. But having those small and big fish biting our feet for dead skin was quite fun.

If you are in Kuningan with your family, this place could be a vacation option. This place is new water park with lots of rides that will be liked by children. It opened at 10 am, prepare your swimsuit. Do not forget breakfast before playing (if you are Indonesian, its always recommended to drink tolak angin [or kind of that]). No hot water in this place, and because it is located at the foot of the mountain, the water is very cold, especially if the morning. Come around 1 pm, the water is warmer.
