Lovely garden worth visiting. With less crowds than Hikone Castle, I could relax a lot viewing the beautiful garden. You can enjoy Matcha with a sweet named Umoregi. The lady who served told me the best spot to enjoy the view from the engawa terrace. It was amazing.

Hikone Castle

This is one of the castles which still preserve their original form. Hikone Castle is designated as a national treasure, and it is absolutely worth visiting. The inside is however not gorgeous as you think. You can experience here a life of Samurai.

Hikone Castle Museum

This lovely museum had a rebuilt Edo house to walk around and many artifacts from the past 400 years. Some English to explain each item too which was great. Well worth popping in before visiting the castle.
