My husband and I are not experienced riders. We are not young either. But we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at the farm. Our guide, Katie was wonderful. She was so knowledgeable about the horses and we found that we were so comfortable around these beautiful animals. We road around he property and it was so peaceful and serene. After our outdoor ride, we came inside to their cafe to enjoy a hot chocolate while watching some videos. A truly memorable outing!!

MudShark Tours

MudShark is a small adventure and outdoors company that operates from Hella in South Iceland. We offer private guided tours in South Iceland either tailor-made or prepackaged. Super Jeep tours to Landmannalaugar or Thorsmork on our Land Rover Defender are our most popular tours. Our speciality though, not offered by anyone else, is a private guided shark-surf-fishing tour at Thykkvibaer beach in south Iceland (summer). We also organize short fishing trips to highland lakes close to Landmannalaugar. Another tour that is only offered by MudShark tours is an educational eco tour on the state of ecosystems of Iceland, degradation and ecological restoration with a PhD botanist (all year). In winter, we can take you on a Northern lights hunting tour into the Mountains. Lastly we offer a relaxed 2 hr. walk-about in Hella village, the hometown of MudShark's owner (all year). In our tours, experienced guides pick you up at hotels in the Hella-Hvolsvollur region and take you touring.

We had booked two consecutive days with MudShark Tours. The first day was at Landmannalauger with our guide Steini. He has lots of local knowledge and quite handy with his 4x4. He even accompanied us on our hike. The second day was with Magnus who took us to Thorsmork. Magnus has an in depth
knowledge of the local flora, fauna and Icelandic lore. A real entertainer with great sense of humour. His knowledge of Icelandic 'elf-ology' was amazing. Thanks Magnus.

Southcoast Adventure has done it again!! I went on their newest adventure to the Ice Cave in Myrdalsjokull .....one word for it ....WOW!
We set off in pretty windy and snowy weather, but Hilmar our guide did a seriously fantastic job basically of keeping us safe as we drove to Vik. 2 other guests joined us there – it is very convenient to be able to just join the South Coast trip that is offered just to go to the ice cave – something to remember if you don´t have time for a full days trip. We left Vik and turned inland towards the glacier. Driving over icefields and thick drifts of snow you get a real sense of going to a very special place that is hidden from the world. We arrived at the glacier and Hilmar showed all of us how to strap on our ice-crampons and fitted helmets correctly. There were 2 older ladies in their 70´s who were game for everything and he was especially concientious about making sure they were ok. Off we set for a short walk to the edge of the actual glacier. Wow...wow...wow...it is like a scene out of Game of Thrones – towering blue wall of ice showing the clear layers of volcanic ash. Totally amazing. We walked into the first part of the cave and it has a tunnel open up to the glacier and the light filtered inbetween softly falling snow – so pretty. Hilmar then let us look in awe at the first part whilst he fastened ice-screws into the wall of the glacier and attached ropes. He then helped everybody climb up a short rise to the next part of the cave. (I had been a little bit concerned as I had knee surgery a month ago but it was a very easy climb) If I was blown away before then the inner part of the cave rendered me speechless. It was simply breath-taking. The hues of the ice shimmered almost obsidian black in places and there was a real sense of other wordly-ness – the silence was perfect as we all just stood in awe. The only noise was of the clicking of cameras as we tried to capture just how fantastic it was. Simply beautiful. There was no feeling of having to rush our enjoyment of it – it is a testamony as to how spectacular it is when the guide is taking as many photos as the guests!!
We dropped the 2 guests back again in Vik a few hours later and drove back to the hotel in even worse weather but once again we we had a very comfortable ride and felt very safe.
Loved my trip to the new ice cave – photos don´t do it justice at all – you will just have to go and see for yourself!

Stayed at Stracta hotel and really felt an urge to go riding - and so happy that I did. We were seven people with different riding skills, and our nice english guide found suitable horses for everyone. Some had never tried before - and some were quite experienced. We all had a great time.
The hour went by very fast and the ride was beautiful. Fantastic weather. We all tried the tølt (a pace only of icelandic horses) - and some of us also got the possibility to go for a fantastic gallop.
I hadn't any suitable shoes with me and they even managed to lend me a pair. I am so greatful for that.

I booked a two hour ride at Hestheimar and it was such a nice experience! The guide was really good in giving instructions and I felt I got a horse which suited my experience. The landscape was so nice! It was great to ride in the river and over hills. After the tour the guide offered me coffee and I spoke with the owner, who was very welcoming. I would always recommend this to anyone, who is going to Iceland! Perfect way to start your day!

We found this place accidentally on our way back from the south coast of Iceland. It requires a 20 min diversion from the ring road and it is not the most comfortable journey by car. However once you arrive you'll find a quaint little village in a beautiful scenery. If you are in the area it is worth a visit.

Your host, Agust Runarsson, will make your entire group feel as if they have known him for years. None of us had met him previously when he picked up our group at Keflavik airport. Within 10 minutes, it felt as if we had been working one-on-one for weeks. By the end of the morning, it was as if he had been a part of our group for years.
Agusta selected destinations and activities that matched us perfectly. He was a great host - understanding our needs/expectaions while exposing us to something new without us feeling pushed.
I plan to bring my family back for an adventure soon.
Highly recommended.
