Menam, which actually means "By the River" is an Thai/International restaurant who places emphasis on delicious food of both Thai and International origin, cooked only with fresh ingredients, served in a soft-spoken manner and surrounded in cozy settings. Our staff is both of Thai and Icelandic origin whose experience in their field guaranties the best quality in our cuisine. We do also offer traditional courses (fish and steak) so everyone should be able to find something they like :-) Please come and visit us - we look forward to be at your service !

This is an Asian/Thai restaurant. I had the garlic ginger chicken and my husband had the garlic ginger beef. The food was seasoned nicely not hot. I could not believe how many vegetables were served!!!! It seems vegetables are in short supply in Iceland. This is the only meal where we had a sufficient amout of vegetables. The service was very good as well.

We have had 2 fabulous meals whilst staying at Hotel Selfoss. The 1st was a celebration and we had 3 absolutely perfect courses; lobster soup, lamb and cod as mains (both superb) followed by chocolate cake and strawberry sorbet, this was one of the best meals we have ever enjoyed. Our 2nd meal of fish n chips and a burger were also excellent as were the desserts. I would highly recommend sampling the food either as a hotel guest or just as a diner looking for somewhere special, sitting alongside the river the setting is perfect.

So pleased we found this place. Lovely food & prepared very quickly. Staff very helpful & went out of their way to provide us with English breakfast tea. Pizzas delicious & pasta dishes well worth a try. The cakes were huge and a great selection

Excellent food in one of the most beautiful hotels in Iceland. Focusing on local cuisine with a trendy modern touch. Very satisfying effect.
Everything was good, especially the glazed lamb shank was really amazing.
Staff consist of students mainly, so they mixed up a few things, bringing not all the desserts, including double wine on the bill, etc. But they solved it in a very elegant way. Applause.

we serve Internacional food, ICelandic food, and we specialize in fresh fish. from hamburgers, soups, salads up to tenderloin of beef . lamb or horse or fish of the day, fish and chips, salmon and even we serve BBQ ribs missisippi style. Pastries, gelato ice cream and selection of coffe, importd and icelandic beers as well as dining vines.

Had the cheeseburger, which I found to be good. Service was fast and the girl waiting tables was polite and helpful. Having looked at the menu I found prices to be reasonable, my meal was less than 2.000 IKR, which you don't find often in Iceland these days. I also notices that the menu has horse meat, which I'm curious about trying. This is a place worth visiting.

We ate dinner here, based on a tour book recommendation, and were so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were charmed. It is over 100 years old, (I think they said 1890), built originally as a boarding house for the workers who constructed the nearby bridge. As a restaurant, they have kept the coziness of living spaces, and decorated with a feel for the 1940s, extending the theme even to the background music, which was delightful. We asked for a table by a window for a beautiful view of the river, Bridge, and Mountains. Food was delicious, and service was excellent.

A brand new restaurant, opened in June 2012, with a menu using the freshest fish and meat of the season with strong focus on local produce. Our chefs use predominanly local igredients of the highest quality and freshness. The Icelandic fish is one of the world’s best ingredients and we make the best out of it. Also you can find goumet lamb, a wide range of bread and home baked cakes. Indulge in delicious ice cream in homemade waffles and freshly grounded coffee from Illy. The restaurant is designed by Leifur Welding and isinspired by the Icelandic nature and Icelandic design. Sigurdur Greipsson, the family ancestor was a famous Icelandic wrestler “glímukappi” and in his honour the restaurant also introduces the only national sport that Iceland has “glíma”. Among other things is “Grettisbeltið” for display, the most famous historical treasure in the whole Icelandic sports history and also the oldest. The restaurant is opened everyday.

While touring Golden Circle we had lunch at Geysir Glima Self Service Restaurant and we were not dissapointed with our choice. Mushroom soup, Fish and chips and the almond pecan pie were all great for the money paid. We paid less than the average price of Reykjavik restaurants and the food was very good. Remember that if you want to buy alcohol you can not take it with you outside because you need to drink it inside. Ale Beer is also cheaper than average restaurants below 1000 isk.

All of the waiters and the chef were very friendly and the food was exceptional with lots of choice. The dessert was also great and the breakfast buffet was great to.
