The MUSEU do BRINCAR is an associative project Harlequin Theatre for Children that over several years has been dedicated to the collection of toys and other objects related to the child's world (clothing, school supplies, children's literature, collecting, etc.). Already has an extensive estate that round about 15,000 objects. Aims to be an interactive space that offers the child a strong contribution to their biopsychosocial development. A space that in addition to its museum collection, will have art gallery intended for children, workshops space, training of educators and teachers and a variety of activities of expressive areas (drama, music and plastic). But its universe of visitors does not open only to children today but also is a place for the elderly, where they can reactivate their childhood memories to relive yesterday's child and have a perception of what has changed over the decades. The PLAY MUSEUM is thus a strong focus on overall construction of the child not being forgotten your biopsicosociocultural dimension. Besides being a fun space is also a place of encounter with our history and our being a child.

Aveiro is one of those unique cities able to offer a combination of urban sophistication, historical attractions and wide, sandy Beaches on which to relax and soak up the sun.
The tourist has the multiple choice to enjoy Aveiro’s Beaches, which include Sao Jacinto, Torreira, Costa Nova, Barra and Vagueira, all of them are accessible by car, bus or by boat via the lagoon and canals.
For instance, starting in the city centre of Aveiro it is about 7 km to reach the Beaches from Barra & Costa Nova, and in between 30 km & 40 km over “Ovar” in order to reach the Beaches off São Jacinto and Torreira.
For the last two you also can take the ferry in Aveiro, this will cost you 5 € for the car, and 2 € pro passenger the driver goes for free, this price is for a return ticket and takes about 15 minutes more or less.
We did the trip by car and it took us about 45 minutes to get to the São Jacinto Beach, very long and nice beach and dunes who are formatting the “Natural Reserve” captured in between the “Lagoon” on one side and the “Atlantic Ocean” on the other, here we can speak from an area covering almost 700 hectares. The area is a designated Natural Reserve in order to protect its unique ecosystem and encourage the many species to flourish.
Now in winter time the beach and the reserve are almost empty, just a few people enjoying beach walking, lots of space to park the car, lovely. We prefer this time of the year above the summer season to do this kind of trips and walks. However Sao Jacinto beach is perfect for Surfing and body boarding and is partially covered by lifeguards during the summer months. The dunes make the perfect location for a nature trail, discovering the many birds, insects, small animals and plants that grow in this tranquil, protected environment.
Recommendable place for beach lovers in Summer and winter.

This is one of the most colorful beach towns in Portugal, due to the way the residents paint their houses in vertical colorful stripes. It really is beautiful to see. The beach has white sands, and the main commercial area of shops and restaurants is right across the street. Definitely worth a drive through.

This museum is based around Santa Johanna and her life.
When you buy your ticket ask for an audio guide as there is no indication they are on offer. Although the signage around the museum is very good the audio guide augments them
The chapel is very impressive although our visit was restricted by a tour group sitting in the pews and who had a very expansive guide who spoke for almost 45 minutes.
The cloister area is interesting and you can imagine what life was like back when it was in full use.
The art museum upstairs is huge and you need to put aside a good 1 - 2 hours if you want to see everything on offer.
Overall a very rewarding visit.

As an architect and interior design I had in mind during my visit to Portugal a visit to this museum and its history and the museum itself did not let me down.
It is located in a very well kept surroundings with includes a small church, a store and an outlet store besides a small restaurant.
I was staying in Aveiro for some days which is only 7 km from the sight and was specially interested in watching the artists painting the porcelain. This why I made sure to arrive during their working hours...
So it was the middle of the week and I arrived very early at the museum. There were only the two of us and a group of students.
As I entered the space there was not anyone around to ask for information as well as no barrier to its entrance.
When I began to explore the museum I was yelled out by someone from the staff saying I had no ticket and could not go in without a one. But when we arrived there was no one to ask and the entrance was opened.
So we paid for the ticket and the entrance, which was opened in the first place was closed again and then reopened for us to get in.....and start our visit.
We were also advised that the church was closed that day....
So that was our first contact with the museum...
As we were exploring the museum a group of students came in with a guide and we stopped to listen to what he was saying.
At that moment the guide approached us and said that we could not stay and listen to him because that was a paid for guidance....
After this second episode all the shine of this well kept museum was tarnished...

You have to do that tour with the boat. Its very nice. you have a guide which explains the story of Aveiro. Our guide was very nice, he also gave us some tips of good restaurants. The tour is about 30 minutes and costs 8 Euros p. person. Very nice, loved it

We spent two nights here in the splendid Aveiro Palace Hotel and explored the sweet town and the nearby Beaches at Costa Nova with its unique stripey beach houses. There are good bars and restaurants, a pleasant positive environment and a real commitment from the town to your enjoyment.
