Our family of five climbed its first "via ferrata" with Acro Parc. The cliff is 15 minutes after Die, right above a narrow path of the Drôme river, and was a thrill. We enjoyed it tremendously and will climb more next year!
It was a two hour climb, with fairly vertical sections and a fun 25m rappel down at the end.
Equipment was state of the art. Our guide, Pierre, was fun, very safety oriented, always kept an eye on us and was ready for an advice but all at the same time we felt totally free of our movements. Great job!
We left at nine, which ensured cool temperatures and no crowd.
Park your car on the left right after the bridge, to get the shade.

Mosaic of the Four Rivers of Paradise

Reviewed By JuliannaLees - Tocane Saint-Apre, France

St Nicolas is the former private chapel of the Bishop's Palace, not far from Die Cathedral, Drôme. It has a complete Romanesque mosaic pavement representing the Four Rivers of Paradise as described in Genesis chapter 2. Tigris, Euphrates, Fison and Gihon are represented in the four corners as male heads spouting their rivers, with their names around a compass in the centre of the room. You will also see birds, fish, animals, a mermaid, a griffin and various tools. Photography is a challenge! The room is not large and it is hard to get back far enough to take more than individual details, and the light is dim. But go there - you won't be disappointed! Die is rich in Roman ruins and you will find fragments of Roman sculptures stuck into walls at St Nicolas and elsewhere. However, do call the Office de Tourisme first - the chapel is not always open. If you drive over the Mountains look out for fabulous wild flowers near the Col du Gelibert and farms selling wonderful Beaufort cheese.

Abbaye Notre-Dame de Valcroissant

Reviewed By vanhoolandt - Nice, France
