The Basilica di Sant'Abbonlio is situated away from the other tourist attractions but is well taking the time and making an effort to visit. Indeed , we were the only visitors at the time, unlike Como Duome where there were many tour groups..
The 14th century frescoes are well worth seeing.
Make that extra effort to visit!

Biggest church in town. Like many other churches in Italy, old, elaborate, and impressive. One of the entrance doors is called the Door of the Frog because of a small frog eating a butterfly that was carved into the entrance. See if you can find it!

Piazza Cavour

Begun in 1876, this scenic square features a monument called "Weaver," which commemorates the 25th anniversary of Rome as a capital of the state, plus other important structures including the Teatro Adriano and Chiesa Valdese, built in a curious mix of Romanesque-German and Byzantine-nouveau.

Beautiful plaza with many restaurants, bars, cafes, gelaterias right on the piazza or on surrounding streets. We enjoyed eating outside at a cafe while a street musician entertained by singing and playing his guitar on the piazza. Delightful place to sit and just relax for awhile. Nice view of Lake Como from here, too.

Tempio Voltiano

The neoclassic building houses a museum dedicated to the inventor of the electric battery, Alessandro Volta, and exhibits some of his original instruments.

Reviewed By SydneyMaie - Sydney

We visited the temple just out of curiosity but came away really impressed. Although we studied physics a long time ago, the instruments and descriptions bought back some glimmers of memory. To think that such primitive instruments have lead to todays technologies. If you have a science/tech interest, dont miss this place. Ggood for older children as well
