It´s a very traditional place where people go to purchase spices, fruits, meat, and to take a little time to drink a very cold beer together a some traditional " mineira cousine " like french fries , fried live with onnions, special cooked gizzard, etc...

I visited during the Christmas and New Year holidays 2019/2020 and was extremely impressed by the photo exhibit, which includes photos from the 1920´s to the 1950´s from Diamantina, MG. I believe it runs through early February, 2020 The documentary was excellent. A wonderful socio-cultural view of the early 20th century in MG.

In the middle of downtown, is a peaceful place to appreciate a well preserved catholic church. They recently repainted the church to its original colors. If you are walking down the city its a good place to spend a quiet time.

Visitation is open to everyone, free of charge Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday: from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with doors open until 6 p.m. Thursday: from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with doors open until 10 p.m. Sunday: from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with doors open until 4 p.m.

It is very nice place to buy gifts for friends, eat delicious cultural food, and have local beers and drinks,also you can have a excelente coffee . The prices is not expensive . I usely go there whem I am in Brazil.
