We had an absolutely amazing time llama trekking at Catanger Llamas. Before we went Sarah answered all my questions over email and was a great and friendly host on the day too. We got to learn all about llamas before taking ours out on our walk, which I found really interesting. The walk was through beautiful countryside and was great to spend time with our llama who was really gentle and had a fantastic personality! Then we headed back to the farm to see all the other llamas and the babies too which was lovely. Also, Catanger Llamas has loads of precautions in place for Covid, e.g. loads of hand sanitizer, rotating llamas and guide ropes used etc so it felt really safe. Would definitely recommend a visit here, it was a fantastic experience!

Warner's Distillery

We make gin the authentic way: we’re gin farmers. It’s dirty hands, hard work, full hearts, a deep love of the land and respect for our community. Our gins are crafted with nature: water from our spring, home-grown botanicals, fresh honey from our bees. We re-sow, replant, give back to nature. Real craft means graft. When it’s time to distil, we question, experiment and invent epic gins, including some never imagined before. We do it in small batches in our gorgeous bespoke copper stills, Curiosity and Satisfaction. So, raise a glass with us: to craft, to the land, to laughter and loved ones. In the end, those are the things that matter most.

The Curiosity Tour was brilliant from start to finish. We started with a complimentary drink, then the tour guide gave an overview of the distillery, the farms history before a walk into one of the farms fields, one of the botanical Gardens and then to the distillery, before then finishing off with a session on sample 5-6 different gins, whilst the guide talks you through the background of each one and how they were created etc. Tour lasted approx 1.5 hrs as is well worth the money - I’m pretty sure you get your money’s worth back in gin anyway, plus you get £5 off at the Tack shop and if you don’t fancy purchasing anything, there’s no pressure to as you get a miniature gin to take away if you choose not to spend the £5 voucher, so no one loses out. Fantastic day out, and the local pub, The Tollemache Arms is worth a visit afterwards too

Phipps NBC - The Albion Brewery

Welcome to the Albion Brewery Bar, the most unusual new bar and venue in town. We are open from 12 everyday for fine ales, cider, lager, wines & spirits including Kingswell Gin distilled in the brewery. Our 8 hand pumps of cask ale feature Phipps, Hoggleys and a revolving guest ale. We have added an oak and glass partition between the bar and brewery so customers can view the brewing process as they drink and eat. Each day will bring a cabaret of mashing, sparging, racking and cleaning as Phipps staff go about their business of creating our beers. Almost all the bar's fittings are reclaimed with many coming from old closed Phipps pubs. Over the foyer there are new toilets including Disabled. We have kept the space true to its origins as a working brewhouse so you can drink ale with the smallest carbon footprint in the county but the biggest taste and the longest history. Hot food is available Wednesday to Sunday afternoon. There will be gigs and events as advertised.

Great stories unfold on this tour. I had been in the Pub as a customer before but did not realise that I had been actually walking on Northampton brewing history. If you like finding out about History and not just of brewing but of Northampton Town this is for you. Alaric one of the Directors did the tour and his passion and his enthusiasm simply shines out - from the beer that saved us in the second world war via Phipps claret colour and looking into a real King's well. I had to dash off after the tour but will return to try Stingo and Ratliffes stout.

78 Derngate

78 Derngate is the only house in England designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It is now a multi award-winning visitor attraction offering an unforgettable day out in Northampton. Designed and remodelled by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1916, the house has been meticulously restored and opened to the public. On site: a boutique restaurant, light-filled art galleries, a stylish design shop and elegant spaces that can be hired for meetings, events and functions. 78 Derngate was the architect's final major commission; his visionary patron, Northampton model engineer, W.J Bassett-Lowke. It is the only place in the world where Mackintosh's mature architectural and interior style can be seen in their original setting. As such, the house has drawn many thousands of visitors from around the globe. Now you can follow in their footsteps and see this unique work from one of Britain's most influential and celebrated designers. Please note: To post a review for The Dining Room Restaurant ( a separate business ) you should search for their separate TripAdvisor page. Thankyou!

Lyveden

Set in the heart of rural Northamptonshire, Lyveden is a remarkable survivor of the Elizabethan age. Begun by Sir Thomas Tresham to symbolise his Catholic faith, Lyveden remains incomplete and virtually unaltered since work stopped on his death in 1605. Due to the current work of the Lyveden Reconnected project, Lyveden is closed until June 2021.
