There is an entrance fee to the park, but IMHO it's worth every penny--the park is just another one of the amazing landscapes South Africa has to offer, but is so unlike the rest. The walk to the Storms River Suspension Bridge is lovely, the type of walk you want to have your camera at the ready throughout b/c every turn is more beautiful than the next. The walk to the bridge was 20-30 minutes each way, leisurely, and was quite accessible (it wouldn't be doable with wheels, there are too many stairs, but it is a board-path that makes for pretty easy walking. There are several suspension bridges (the one in all the pictures at the mouth of the river, then a few others right nearby). We only had time to walk tot he bridge and back, but you can continue onto other paths to make the journey as long as you'd like. If the weather is cooperating, the views alone are worth the walk, but the walk itself is a great experience, too.

Such a treat to have extremely professional and informative guides - Werner and JJ - to shepherd a happy group of two South Africans and eight delightful Germans through the magical Tsitsikamma (place of sparkling waters) National Park. The two day hiking path weaves between ancient indigenous forests, fynbos and the rocky seashore, At the end of each day, we were welcomed at the friendly four star accommodation at "Misty Mountain" and "The Fernery". Your tour starts with a 20 minute training session; from there we depart from the backpackers, through the village and into the local indigenous forest. Tubing on the Storms River is somewhat similar to kloofing/canyoning yet completely dis-similar as no rope access is necessary and rock jumps are not compulsory. One paddles the calm pools in one man inflatable river tubes. We used tubes as there are parts of the river bed where Portage is necessary. We also do include some optional rock jumps up to 8m in height. We offer two different excursions namely a Green Route tubing and SUP combo trip that takes place in the Plaatbos Nature reserve and a Red Route canyon Tubing trip that takes place in the Goesa nature reserve and Tsitsikamma National Park.

On frequent trips to the Garden Route, I have always wanted to visit the Tsitsikamma Forest. So this time, with Family/Friends from the UK and after Our chat with Tony and Maria Kinahan, while staying at Lily Pond Country Lodge in Nature’s Valley, We took a drive to the forest and booked onto the Woodcutters Journey..... What an amazing experience! If You are interested in Nature and don’t mind the rugged terrain, the Journey in an Open Truck, even for Us Older Folk, all 60 plus, was Exciting and Enlightening. Our Guide, a Young Man of 28 years, having lived most of His Life in the Area, was Extremely Knowledgeable and His, at times, almost Humorous Account of Events, has left a Lasting Memory and We just Loved the Whole Experience.
