10 Things to do Good for Adrenaline Seekers in Virgin Gorda That You Shouldn't Miss

July 16, 2021 Layne Dawes

Life is just a little bit slower on Virgin Gorda, so named because this British Virgin Island resembles a large reclining woman. The laid-back pace of the island is the perfect excuse to take your time, whether you’re wading along the granite grottoes of The Baths, doing some casual snorkeling in Devil’s Bay, or exploring the stone ruins of a 19th century Copper Mine. Hanging out in the hammock at Mad Dog while you sip a Painkiller is the ultimate in Virgin Gorda relaxation.

I looooved swimming in the sea at this beach. The sand was so soft. Recommend wearing sport sandals or water shoes as there are several rocks getting into the water, as well as large rocks in the water.

The Baths

The most well-known attraction on the island, these giant boulders or batholiths, brought to the surface by volcanic eruptions, are scattered about forming a beautiful grotto and tranquil pools.

On my family's Star Clipper cruise in December, we indulged in daily beach hopping. My favorite beach by far was The Baths on Virgin Gorda, BVI. I opted to explore the easier trail and strolled down a winding path to a gorgeous, mostly deserted beach studded with huge boulders. The scenery was stunning. After taking photos along the water's edge, I sat at a shady table to write in my journal. During my peaceful morning, I enjoyed the sound of the sea, the warm sunshine and the blissfully serene setting. Up above the beach at the top of the trail, colorful shops and an inviting outdoor restaurant with a swimming pool await visitors who need a break from the sun.

Virgin Gorda Peak

There's even a tower on Virgin Gorda's highest peak to enhance the breathtaking and dizzying panorama.

Reviewed By OregonLawyer

We hiked from the lower entrance/parking area. It took maybe 45 minutes each way. We are in our early 50's, in good condition, and the hike itself seemed pretty easy. The observation tower has not been rebuilt since Irma knocked it down, but you can still climb up the boulder on top and see a beautiful birds-eye view of Spanish Town. On an island famous for its beautiful beaches, this hike is a nice change of pace for a couple hours. We really enjoyed the hike and will do it again next time we are on VG.

Double D Charters

We are a day boat tour operation, we have a Motoryacht , a powerboat, and a trimaran day sail boat, we go to all destinations in the BVI, Norman island, Jost Van Dyke, Anegada, Cooper island, are the main destinations, but we also see all the other islands inbetween, Peter island, Salt, island and the smaller ones near JVD, Sandy Spit and Sandy Key. We do private tours, and public join in trips, for our public trips we try to carry no mare than 10 people this keeps small and personal, we have always been a company that likes to keep the one on one feeling, since the beginning 22 years ago, We cater to people looking to enjoy a leisure day on the water getting to know everyone onboard the boat by the end of the day, we only snorkel, we do not combine diving with snorkelers, our trips start from when we leave the dock, we do not go from place to place collecting people to make up a 40 passenger boat . We do private pick ups and drop offs to the airport, and night charters to restaurants, and other attractions. We hope we can be of personal service to you Thank you Dave
