Boris Lisjak Winery

Our tour group stopped here on a lovely day in crush season. Winemaker Boris took time from his busy crush day to take us on a tour of this beautiful, time-honored winery. A lovely and knowledgeable granddaughter, 8th generation in this family of winemakers!, presented our lovely lunch and kept us informed of each wine we enjoyed. I highly recommend a stop here, and the delicious lunch is a wonderful bonus, if you can arrange it. I purchased 3 of the Cabernet Sauvignon wines, one to take home to Washington to one of my favorite winemakers. Cheers!

The Divača Cave lies near The Divača-Lokev Road and is approximately one kilometer distant from Divača. It has been discovered in 1884 by the local Gregor Žiberna. Three years later, the cave has been arranged for tourist visits. A visit to the cave is very interesting as it, together with surrounding collapse valleys And shafts, constitutes a part of once active cave system formed by the Reka river, which sinks today in the famous Škocjan caves. Almost entire cave is richly decorated with calcite formations that have developed through its geological history. The cave shelters numerous species of cave animals and other forms of life. In the past, the cave the cave has been visited by many prominent personalities. Especially worth mentioning are Rudolf of Hapsburg, Crown prince of Austria, whose name the cave bore for some time, and the famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. The walkway in the cave is well-maintained and illuminated and thus suitable for visitors of all ages. It is approximately 500m long. The temperature in the cave is 8°c/47°f. Access to the cave: One just has to follow the sings by the Divača-Lokev road. The cave is also a suitable destination for those who come to Divača by a train. One has to walk from the railway station on the Risnik Education Trail that leads thorough karst wood and past large collapse valleys. This alternative is a wonderful opportunity for a half day trip.

BEST bar in Bovec ! These guys are brewing their own beers ! And they are unbelievably good ! They trully rock ! If you like beers, you'll have the choice, as they offer more than 10 different types of beer. Just ask the team for some advices, they are super friendly !!! And if you don't like beer, they also have other house drinks, wines, good cocktails, ciders, and great coffee. Kobarid Museum (Kobariski muzej)

Kobarid Museum displays exhibits on the events that occurred during World War I on the Soška fronta - Isonzo Front. It covers two and a half years of static fighting and portrays in detail the 12th Isonzobattle, also known as the Caporetto breakthrough. The latter is one of the major battles in the history of mankind having taken place in hillyterrain.

The museum wonderfully depicts the "Soška fronta" and the struggles of soldiers fighting there. Awful conditions to live in, not to mention these men were fighting to survive for multiple months. We were both deeply touched, definitely recommended for anyone interested in the 1st world war and for everyone in general, so we do not forget, what peace means.
