Nice hotel, but sickness and diarrhoea staying here

Reviewed By Cloudblue

Hotel is lovely, but the chemist at the top of the road must be doing great business due to the number of people getting sick while staying here. Several of our party suffered vomiting and diarrhoea. The food hygenine is not great. I personally saw guests take pizza and then put it back, children putting their hand into the olive bowl because there was no serving spoons, and one child taking a croissant and then putting it back. There wasn't enough staff in the buffet to stop this happening. I also spoke to several other people who were also sick while we were there. Sickness seemed to be a problem. Apart from going on holiday and becoming sick, which somewhat defeats the purpose of a holiday, the other aspects of the hotel are OK. The grounds are well kept. The water park is good. The lifeguards do their job, I saw them pull 2 kids out of the pools on separate occasions. The rooms are OK. It's just a shame that they haven't quite got the food hygenine up to standard. There was also urine smell on occasion in the main pool. If the good hygenine was better, then I would have given a rating of 4 star.

Beautiful hotel, amazing staff!

Reviewed By niamhw136

My friends and I visited at the end of may for 5 nights and loved it here! The hotel was lovely, clean and staff all super friendly. We had adjoining rooms which was fun too. The food was also really nice, a really big range of options and the chefs were incredibly helpful as one of us was a coeliac (gluten free). Special thanks to Chef Ameen (Amee? Amin? So sorry I can’t remember how he spelt it…) as he personally showed her round every meal for what was safe for her to eat, and had gluten free bread made and dessert brought out to her! Thank you so much to all!!

More like a good 4 star

Good points: - Very clean rooms and communal areas - Swimming pool is amazing - Swimming slides are incredible, kids absolutely loved them. - Good selection of activities such as aqua-aerobics, zumba, water polo etc Bad points: - Usually in a 5 star hotel, the staff will go above and beyond. Here, they did not, there were a handful of lovely staff including waiters and the animation team but opart from this, anything we asked seemed too much trouble, especially at the bar. - Great hotel if you are french - they speak very limited english and everything is in french. - AC in the rooms not great, we were quite hot most nights. - Beds are awfully uncomfortable - so hard! - Cocktails very limited and alcohol definitely watered down. - No allergens highlighted so basically no gluten free choices and nothing labelled, if it was it was in french only so was unable to understand what meats we were eating. - Food quality as expected for an all inclusive but was disappointed with all the cold food as there were flies landing on it all constantly so didn't want to risk eating it. - Had to queue for food and drinks most of the time and guests have no concept of queuing which was rather frustrating. - Dinner starts late - 7pm which is late if you have young children that need feeding. Kids disco doesnt start til 8:30pm.

Amanjena

Amanjena (peaceful paradise) is located just outside the ancient city of Marrakech. Set within an oasis of palms and olive trees, Moorish heritage is reflected throughout the pisé-walled resort, including the guest pavilions that radiate out from an ancient bassin, echoing the style of a sultan's palace. Amanjena offers a variety of guided excursions on foot, bicycle or private car into the medina, the souk and squares, palaces, gardens and craft shops of ancient Marrakech.

A truly outstanding hotel - flawless and tranquil.

Reviewed By Clive D

My wife and I truly enjoyed an amazing four nights at the Amanjena hotel. We travel a lot and have stayed at many great hotels - Sixth Senses and Belmond (Formally the unique brand: Orient Express Hotels). I firmly put this hotel in the same peer as Sixth Senses Hotels. The key advantages here is privacy and tranquility. There are only 45 rooms/suites of various sizes, two persons up to six (I think). So the place is never busy. It is well spaced out, around an amazing large "lake" - framed by the rooms. In fact I dont call them rooms - more like (as in our case), suites. Large lounge area, outside garden, large bathroom. Beautiful décor. Manicured lawns and flowers. Total quietness. The food was very good, and the breakfast choices is endless and very high quality. The main restaurant food for diner was as one would expect - delicious. Like many hotels the number of diners was very low - so not much ambiance - but we were not bothered. The lady that took after us was outstanding. A Turkish lady, charming and helpful where nothing was a problem and her suggestions on tours were original and first rate. We have been active in travel all over the world since I retired - and I place this in our personal top 3 - "world's greatest". Go there. You wont be disappointed.

Club Med Marrakech La Palmeraie

Marrakech is the Southern pearl, full of charm, mystery and bustle, at the crossroads of the Sahara and the High Atlas. The Club Med Village, set in Morocco's oldest palm grove, reflects the intimate aspect of the medina, fostering its way of life with its gardens, refined cuisine and warm welcome. The Marrakech architecture combines baked bricks, tadelakt, red ochre and colourful zellige, to create a relaxing haven to which you can enjoy returning after a stroll through Djemaa el-Fna square.

A wonderful family holiday

Reviewed By Ehirsch1

We had a truly wonderful week away with our two children (5&8) and another family. We had been a bit worried about other reviews saying English guests were treated as second class citizens. We didn’t find this to be the case at all. All the staff were super friendly and tried their best with their English. We don’t expect to go away and have all the staff speak perfect English. We were there over English half term so there were plenty of English speaking children in kids club and the staff did speak English, though I would say this could be better for the children and out of Uk holidays I can imagine English kids being in the minority and potentially less catered for.

Nice hotel but don’t recommend for couples

Reviewed By Amy F

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon. We believed it was a couples retreat, relaxing, on the website TUI advertised a quiet hotel focused on ‘wellbeing’ and ‘low key activities’. Our first night there was a pool party. That is now what we would consider as low key activity. Hotel staff are amazing, so friendly, food is incredible. But the evening entertainment is more tailored to an 18-30s holiday than a quiet, relaxing experience. If you’re a couple on a honeymoon we do not recommend it. If your a group of young adults looking for something lively with no kids then this hotel is perfect. TUI need to revisit the advertisement of this hotel it is very misleading.
