It is an awesome way for a group of five ( 2 adults, 3 boys- 11, 9 and 6) to explore a different Hong Kong with great fun on bike. We were well taken care of from emails exchanges (before the trip) with Tim to check the height of each rider in preparation of a suitable bike for the end of the tour . We were given all information we need in preparation for an exciting bike tour experience. We were assigned Joseph who is a great guide and Super patient with us-The troublesome family of 5 and my youngest refuse to ride on attachable with his dad. But he feel secure and safe when Joseph offered to ride with him. He work perfectly well with my kids and they love him. My 6 year old say: Uncle Joseph is “Professional”. I am grateful to have Joseph as our guide, he went extra miles and offered to toll my boy along in the attachable which supposedly the dad’s duty. We started our journey with light and easy Cycling. Learning the culture and history of the tang families. We love the tim sum lunch, followed by another 2 hours ride to the wetland park. We enjoyed the ride, but skipped wetland park as we were exhausted. It was an adventure for us- the small Rocky part, the steep slopes and the road ride with truck and van passing by us ( not many vehicles but quite an experience). My only advice is to bring along insect repellents. My legs were bitten by sand flies quite badly. 40 kisses on each leg. Apparently only hubby and I got those kisses, sand flies were not interested in my kids at all- lucky me that only the adults suffered! Will definitely come back exploring other parts of HK on bike!!

The best private tour experience I had so far travelling in China! Tour guide, QiuyanLi, was doing all possible to make my short 2-days trip full of new experiences and emotions! She shared a lot of interesting facts about the region, local culture and traditions of minorities, even helped to communciate with them. I really enjoyed Li River cruise and QiuyanLi helped me to capture best moments including famous '20 yuan' photo. I would also highly recommend everyone to visit Longji rice terrace. For me, as foreigner it was first time to see rice terrace and I was really impressed. QiuyanLi gave me a lesson on how to grow rice and build rice field, now feel myself almost an expert :).

I would definitely recommend this tour. We had Ivan as our tour guide. He was really knowledgeable and made the walk thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. Although we have been to Hong Kong before and have previously wandered about in the Sheung Wan and Central area on our own, we never really knew the history of the place. I learned a great deal during the tour. The tour operator (all communication was via Ada) was really helpful in adjusting the start time to suit our flight plans and agreeing to start the tour from our hotel instead of the MTR station. A day prior to the tour, they discovered a protest was planned to take place at Central and this would have coincided with the latter third of our tour. I am very grateful they agreed to go ahead with the scheduled tour after I chose to ignore all their dire warnings about the protest and declined the option to defer to another day. They could have chosen to cancel but didn't. Nothing untoward happened. We were very well taken care of. Ivan kept track of what was going on at the protest site via messages from friends. I got a few snaps of the police in their riot gear and guns loaded with canisters of tear gas from a afar up on the hill on way to St John's Cathedral. All quite exciting! ps. I was prepared to get tear gassed, if need be, and requested Ada to get some baking soda for me ahead of time.

What to do with a full day in Hong Kong between debarking a cruise ship and an evening flight? Spending it with Jacky Wong of This is Asia Tours was one of the best choices of our entire trip. Jacky met our party of five at Kai Tak Terminal exactly where he said he’d be with a luxurious van that easily accommodated our group and all our luggage. After asking what we’d already seen of Hong Kong (our ship arrived the previous morning) he suggested we make a stop at the Kowloon Public Pier for a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour and a brief history of the city. Though we had been on two shore excursions the day before, Jacky provided a much more thorough explanation of why and how Hong Kong came to be. He is incredibly knowledgeable and articulate and also exhibits a great sense of humor, which made spending the day with him a highlight of our trip. From there we headed to Lantau Island while Jacky described the development of the current airport and supporting infrastructure. As we neared Disneyland and I expressed interest, Jacky immediately exited the freeway for a quick “drive by” of the park resorts. Then we proceeded to Tai O, the highlight of our day. This picturesque fishing village of stilt houses, canals and pedestrian lanes is about as different from the bustle of Kowloon as one can possibly imagine. And Jacky knows it like the back of his hand. He introduced us to many of the shopkeepers and restauranteurs as he explained the delicacies produced here and encouraged us to sample them. We had an extensive walking tour including two temples before stopping for lunch at a canal-front cafe where Jacky ordered for us based on our preferences (including beer!). A subsequent stop at Triple Lanterns Cafe allowed for a thorough discussion of the current politics and prospects of Hong Kong. Jacky was very forthcoming and insightful and we found his unique perspective very enlightening. Tai O was definitely a highlight of our entire trip thanks to Jacky. I can’t imagine we would have enjoyed it nearly as much had we ventured there on our own. From Tai O, we drove to visit the Big Buddha and affiliated temples, which were quite crowded due to it being the first day of the lunar new year. Along with all the technical information about the site, Jacky provided the historical significance (or lack thereof) of this recent attraction completed just prior to Hong Kong’s transfer from the U.K. to China. Following a spectacular and very full day, Jacky delivered us to the airport, where he accompanied us (and all our luggage) into the terminal where he directed us to the appropriate ticket counter for our homebound flight. Subsequently, he emailed about twenty photos of our day together, several of which are posted with this review. When I began looking for a transfer tour, I was really only looking for a way to spend the time between leaving our ship and an evening flight. Jacky Wong turned it into one of the best experiences of our trip. I cannot recommend highly enough that anyone visiting Hong Kong contact Jacky Wong of This Is Asia Tours. I am incredibly glad that I did.
