10 Outdoor Activities in Vernon That You Shouldn't Miss

January 2, 2022 Merry Kessler

Although perhaps less flashy than its southern Okanagan neighbors Kelowna and Penticton, Vernon is a year round getaway offering an abundance of fun attractions from sunny beaches and golf courses in the summer to powdery ski slopes in the winter. The area's back country trails provide great exploration points, whether by bike, horseback riding, hiking, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. The pristine scenery of the Rockies surrounds the valley's plentiful vineyards.

This is an old railway line so the grade is flat or with a minimal hill. The trail is wide and well packed gravel. It runs along the lake the entire way to Oyama.

Kal Tire Place

Reviewed By Coach_Shaggy - Surrey, Canada

An excellent facility for ice sports. Have attended an annual ringette tournament in Vernon the past few years and it was held at Kal Tire Place. It is home to the Vernon Vipers and the main arena is a very modern one with large center-hung score board. The kids love playing on this rink because they feel like the pros. The second sheet is a smaller, quaint little rink but still a decent sheet of ice. The dressing rooms are nicely sized and give ample room to change in. There is a skate sharpening service on site and the main rink boasts a large concourse that is used as a track for people to walk for excercise. There are several concessions on-site but they are generally only open during Vipers games. In my opinion, Kal Tire Place is a first rate ice sport facility.
