10 Neighborhoods in Busan That You Shouldn't Miss

July 20, 2021 Roseanne Arnett

Busan is Korea's second largest city.  Tourists often come to this region to hike and to visit the Buddhist Temples located deep within the region's mountains. The Beomeosa Temple, founded in 678 AD, is perhaps one of the most frequented temples in the area and is always packed with worshipers and tourists. For art buffs, Busan offers several museums and historical buildings. If scenery is your thing, try visiting the Dongbaek Island, or bird watch at the Nakdong river estuary.

Busan Gamcheon Culture Village

Was easy to get here on your own if you are on a cruise stopover. From Busan station, take a metro to Toseong station and get out at exit 6. Once out, walk straight then proceed to bus stop of Pusan NU hospital. Board bus 1-1, 2 or 2-2 and it will take you all the way to the entrance of Gamcheong Cultural Village. Be there early or you will soon have many people in your photos which you would not want to. The sights are interesting with many artworks decorating the routes along the whole village and the colorful houses make the whole scene perfect picture shots. There are also a number of eateries throughout the village. Be warn though. There are steep slopes and staircases and would not be so friendly for the elderly. This is something different from most order tourist sites. Worth a trip.

Gwangbokro Culture and Fashion street

This shopping street is very different from the many other shopping streets that we have been to in different cities in Korea. It got a very nice, cool & vibrant atmosphere; with lots of beautifully designed trendy shops & dining outlets. The street is lively & litted with beautiful shops & street lightings plus colorful seasonal decorations. The crowds are mostly young people. Best time to come is at night. There are colorful sign arches in this place stating this place as "Arirang Street." Often we find locations & places details in Korea are not very clear. Kind of confusing. Definitely, this is our favourite shopping street in Busan & Korea. Come & enjoy the wonderful atmosphere here, even if you don't intend to buy anything.

Your teenager children may like this vibrant and youthful place. It is not a very big place and you can even venture across the roads and visit some of newer eateries. Just feel free to move about and check out some vintage shops in this neighbourhood. There appeared to be have some good food around this area. We have pasta in one of the joints after many days of kimchi in this wonderful place.
