Ahtsik Native Art Gallery

We are an artist-owned fine art gallery specializing in traditional west coast style art of the Pacific Northwest. The gallery is on Tseshaht lands and houses Gordon Dick Studio while showcasing the work of local and regional artists. We carry handmade woodcarvings and jewelry, including masks, panels, free-standing or wall-mounted sculptures, doors, poles, and house beams. Ahtsik is a Nuu-chah-nulth word meaning “creating to the best of your abilities” and we select our artwork for its beauty and craftsmanship. May you enjoy it as much as we do.

Ucluelet Aquarium

We are open for the season as of May 1st, 2021! The Ucluelet Aquarium is a catch-and-release aquarium dedicated to raising awareness and respect for the local ocean environment.

Reviewed By A3353WYheathers

This was my second visit to the town of Ucluelet, but I couldn’t fit in the aquarium then, so it was on my list for this visit. We arrived right at opening, as did numerous families right behind us. We three adults in their mid-sixties were as excited as the little ones to experience this small marine treasure! All the tanks are fed directly by piped-in ocean water. Marine plants, fish, and creatures are collected for the season only and retuned to the ocean by divers at seasons’s end. Young marine biologists and ecosystem workterm students staff the facilities and conduct research throughout the summer. A variety of fish live in a large pool in the centre. Around that are separate tanks that hold a variety of species and biodiversity - anemones, starfish, sea cucumbers, urchins, an octopus, jellyfish, and many kinds of fish. Most exciting for everyone, however, was the opportunity to explore a number of tanks where you could reach in and touch some of the species, after washing your hands of residue. That was a unique experience! This is not a tourist trap for families, but rather an educational experience for all. When you’re in Ucluelet, thus is a must-do activity!

The art of Mr. Vickers is world class so it's fitting that it be displayed in such a wonderfully suitable building based on traditional long house design. There is no admission price, but you'll find it hard not to buy one of the many works of art; from cards, to signed prints, to originals. Take your time to find peace and gain knowledge from your visit. Parking is on street, free and nearby.

Rollin Art Centre

Reviewed By vancouvermuffy2016 - Vancouver, Canada

The Rollin Art Centre is worth a visit - a lovely selection of small gifts and local interest books, along with changing exhibitions-very high level of art. As this was a winter visit, the adjoining gardens were slumbering, but we can see how stunning this outdoor area would be in the summer months. There is some local First Nations art available for purchase in the gallery. I encourage you to drop in and support local artists, and in the summer, sample the tea on the terrace. Lots of street parking, easy access.

Cedar House Gallery - Huu Mees Ma As

Reviewed By helenw00

This gallery is so cool, and I can't recommend it enough. They have a great collection of wood carvings, paintings, prints, photos and other First Nations art. We learned the story of the origin of the gallery. The owner saw the First Nations' artists getting ripped off by other galleries who charged large commissions. So, he decided to create a First Nations supportive gallery and took out a loan to create his own gallery. The artists set their own rules here. Additionally, the owner will sit there doing his own carvings. Support this great local, independent business with great morals and pick up some cool art!

Reflecting Spirit Gallery

Excellent place to buy gifts or something beautiful for yourself if you’re looking for quality items. They won’t have plastic squirt guns or cheap key chains. If you don’t want to spend a lot just browse. The owner was full of stories about the artists and local info. Very interesting place!
