So this has been a dream come true for me, to see pandas in China, without them being in a zoo. I don't why it has taken so long? In January, I finally got to spend a whole day working with other volunteers, cleaning and feeding some pandas that were, ironically, given by the Austrian government. Actually most of the pandas were captive born, with just a few getting ready for the re-wilding project. There's a lot to do and learn about panda conservation. Travelling to the sanctuary by private car on a really polluted morning was a bit depressing. In contrast, the sanctuary was completely impressive and well supported by foreign donations. I loved the programme and it seemed to work well for the community too. In the morning, I cleaned and fed bamboo and cakes. Then I paid extra to sit next to a cub, which I can't share on social media as I signed a disclosure document. After a somewhat spicy lunch, I toured the other pandas at leisure and then watched a really good documentary about the earthquake and the research approaches to sustain wild pandas. It was really sad to see how badly the earthquake damaged the scientist's endeavours. Yes, my contribution was expensive. I paid $840 for a day, yes, a day! That's a lot of money. Well conservation is always going to be about money, and on this occasion, I used my savings to learn more about pandas and that was worthwhile. I booked with Viator.
2. When Chinese Leaves Fall
This unique autumn trip begins and ends in two of the best known nature reserves of China. The first is Jiuzhaigou, internationally recognized as one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the world, and the latter is Zhangjiajie which was brought to the public attention as it served as the background for the Hollywood hit movie, Avatar. These two nature reserves consist of dense forests, and thus, when autumn arrives, they stand in beautiful autumn foliage. In between these two magnificent sites we travel just below the Tibetan Plateau, where communities of Tibetans managed to avoid the political turbulences often stirring the Tibetan plateau. We just came back from a three week trip to China‘s 9 holy mountains. What a trip - temples, mountains, cities, natural beauty and most of all nice people. Ron Oren and his team developed a individual program for my wife and myself that was exceptional in all regards. One of the best trips ever.
3. 3 Days Jiuzhaigou Spring Tour( Apr. - Jun.)
As we know, Jiuzhaigou is famous for its Autumn scenery when trees turn colours, but its spring is fabulous in some other way. As spring approaches, rivers are swelling. Water is turning semi-crystal with one part frozen yet another flowing. Wild flowers blossom and spread across the mountains. Soft and languid sunshine sprinkle all over the lakes and play with the shining blue waves joyously. With the distant jokul as a background, a fairy-tale world thus appears. The visit was fun and our guide Mark was a very friendly guide. The tour lasted longer than advertised (ours ran from 7am-7.30pm) but that's always to be expected in China, just prepare for a full day of activity. The ride from the panda base to Leshan can take about 3 hours so this tour isn't for everyone, it's a lot of sitting on the minibus. However it was a very easy and comfortable way to get to the pandas and the Buddha without the hassle of trains and buses and taxis. We had some delicious lunch in Leshan too (not included in price) which Mark helped us order.
4. Jiuzhaigou Huanglong tour (4 days from Chengdu)
Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong are the most beautiful highlights in China that every one in China is dreaming to visit them. the colorful lakes and huge waterfalls will give you powerful and fresh visual impact.

Our large group of 17 family and friends enjoyed our 2 week Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Ermei, Leshan trip with Aline very much. Aline planned the itinerary well with highlights being the newly opened Jiuzhaigou/Huanglong areas (super wow), Emei/Leshan and Chengdu city areas. She even took us to the less known Bifengxia zoo where we are able to feed lions, tigers, bears up close and observe the panda in really close range. Aline is extremely dedicated. Before the trip, I mentioned that Singapore does not allow fireworks, and Aline brought along some impressive fireworks for us to set off. That's something the kids (and even adults!) enjoyed very much for the first time! Its an unique experience for us Singaporeans. She also went out of her way to help the group. When we needed bubble wrap to hand carry some fragile items, she ordered it from the Chinese websites and arranged for it to be delivered to the hotel the next day. She also helped us order several things from Chinese websites which saved us a lot of hassle. Of course Aline was completely professional in the usual tour guide duties : flexibly amending the schedule to tailor to weather and our preferences, taking care of the group, recommending food choices etc. She is a very committed tour guide and goes out of the way to meet our needs. We had a great trip and would not hesitate to recommend her to friends who is going to Chengdu!

Got in rather late to the airport with an arrival from Beijing. It was nice to see someone waiting for me with the sign with my name on it. The young driver was polite and friendly and extremely helpful. Highly recommend! I had to change the date and time and the coordinator was very flexible. He contacted me via WeChat, so very easy to communicate.
