The old windmill is truly a landmark in Vlaardingen. It is open for visiting and learning all about how the mill used to operate and still operates in the present day! The also have a shop where you can buy flower grinded in the mill and most importantly ... this is the only place in the world where you can buy the equipment and supplies needed to make the famous Vlaardingse IJzerkoekjes (Iron cookies). The term iron has nothing to do with what is in the cookies, but with the iron cast pan you need to be able to make them.

Windorgel Vlissingen

Reviewed By Robert937 - Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Twenty bamboo pipes vertically placed at the end of the Nolledijk form the windorgan, part of a project called Mass Moving initiated by Belgian artist Opstaele. The original 1975 organ consisted of 50 pipes, but was washed away by stormy waves in the 1980s. As the wind almost always blows at this place, the organ is always 'played'. Strange sonorous sounds can be heard and the tunes are always different. Exceptional experience.
