Very clean and quiet

Reviewed By MTGuest5

Great Motel in a quiet part of town. Very Spacious, well appointed with everything you might need including pots and pans etc. if you felt inclined to dine in. What really stood out for me was just how exceptionally clean and well maintained the room was - the quality and attention to detail far surpassed the room we recently stayed in at a well known 5 Star "Luxury Resort Style" Hotel in Taupo. I would definitely stay at Arena Lodge again next time I am heading to Palmerston North - are you opening a motel anytime soon in Taupo??

Rang to enquire about a stay. Customer service was rude, won’t be staying there in the future if needed. Would rather somewhere else that treat possible stayers respectfully. Heavens heard good things anyway.

Piper's Lodge is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The whole lodge was spotless and I found it very comforting to be staying in such a clean place. The food was absolutely delectable, the servings were generous and there was a great variety in what was served. The staff were some of the most friendly people ever, they were very happy to help with anything and in general put their all into making sure that visitors were happy and comfortable. I would 100% recommend Piper's Lodge to anyone wanting to stay in the TVC area.

Nice place for a break away

Reviewed By raro20

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. The price included a continental breakfast which was nice and filling, placed in the refrigerator next to our room, with a table we could eat at and a toaster to use. The bed was comfortable and warm with blankets and towels all provided. The hostess was lovely and gave us plenty of information on walks and eateries in the area. Nice to get a break away.

River Valley Lodge

A family run business now into its 3rd generation of raft guides, River Valley started as a rafting company on a family farm, in the back blocks of Taihape. With one of the world's top half day Grade 5 rafting trips literally on the doorstep, it was a natural progression. A horse trekking stables was added over time, and it is these two adventurous activities, rafting the beautiful Rangitikei River, and exploring the magnificent hill country which is at core of River Valley. The Lodge caters for a mix of clientele, with an accommodation mix from deluxe riverside ensuite rooms, to bunk rooms. There are also 2 meeting rooms available for hire, for corporate use or private events and weddings. The Lodge restaurant and cafe serves a selection of fresh farm-to-table food, much not only prepared on site, but also grown in the extensive vegetable gardens. If shopping and cell phone reception are critical to your daily existence, then River Valley is certainly not the place for you.

One of my favourite places in New Zealand

Reviewed By GeorgeWeeks

River Valley is a gem. I stayed here for three days en route from Wellington to Auckland. I spent my time rafting, riding horses, swimming in the river and eating delicious home-cooked food. In between activities, I relaxed by the river with a good book in the afternoon sunshine. I left with a heavy heart and would gladly have stayed for longer. Here are the reasons why I love River Valley: - Consistently friendly, well-run and welcoming - Wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets; always clean and tidy - First-class activities, with instructors that really know the landscape - Excellent food, mostly grown on-site in the kitchen garden - Hot tub, 2x saunas + river swimming - Clearly run with vision and care. Everyone is welcome; other guests included families, couples, solo travellers and cycle/horse tourists on longer trips. If you're thinking about stopping off here...do it! This is a gorgeous spot and it deserves to known throughout New Zealand.

Stayed 2x Nights, unit 5. Price mid-range. Contactless check in and out made everything ALOT more streamlined, all I wanted to do after a long drive was get in and wash up. Room was open plan, no drawers. Bed was comfortable and there was an electric blanket <3 which I really appreciated as Ohakune is cold. Small kitchenette with all you need to cook and coffee milk etc. Bathroom is bright and warm under the heat lamps impeccably clean and fresh. Shower has incredible pressure throughly impressed. Ambience was to be expected for business trip. Bright lights relaxed clean tidy space, lots of Power points to plug in laptops and cellphones, tv to provide background noise and free strong wifi. 2 doors down from the main street with 2 restaurants at the top of the road, New World just around the block and Hot latte 1 min stroll away. I am very happy with my stay and will return again. Thank you for hosting me.

Immaculate warm and comfortable accommodation

Reviewed By Robyn H

We stayed at Snowhaven Accommodation in a Mountain view room (Room 1) when we came to Ohakune to ride the Old Coach Road. The room was immaculate, the bed was comfortable and the kitchenette was well stocked. The shower was good, the water was hot. I had been told there was a hair dryer in our room and there wasn't, but a staff member got me one from somewhere else so no wet hair on a cold day :-) We enjoyed out stay, the staff we did interact with were friendly. We had booked a package that was accommodation and spa treatments and it was all booked accurately and worked beautifully. Would stay there again.
