May 3, 2023 Velvet Champine

Near the banks of Lake Victoria, Kampala, the capital of Uganda, is a lively city with a long history. Before the British, the city was the capital of the Buganda Kingdom, and remains so to this day. The city sits on several hills, each housing an important government or religious building. Kasubi Hill is the home of the Kasubi Tombs, a sacred burial ground of Buganda Kings. The Uganda Museum sits atop Kololo Hill, and features a hands-on collection of traditional musical instruments.

Yellow Haven Lodge

Yellow Haven's beautiful gardens are an oasis of peace and quiet surrounded by papyrus groves on the shores of Lake Victoria. The modern Dutch-style Lodge is easily accessible from Kampala - but miraculously far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The gardens and water inlets are home to a great variety of birds, frogs, and fish - and boats are available anytime, just to paddle along the lovely shoreline, to fish, or to have a picnic or barbecue on one of the nearby islands. There's also great hiking and cycling - and at day's end you can take a dip in the infinity pool, have a sauna or massage, or simply relax with one of our fresh-fruit cocktails and a snack! Designer-architect Ronald Scheer and his long-suffering Irish wife, Joan, dreamed of building this enchanting complex during their many years in Africa - a place where friends from around the world could experience the magic of nature while living in luxury, and enjoying great service - and great food. At the Yellow Haven, you'll reside in an ultra-modern two storey townhouse, or in one of the two lovely single storey units. All apartments are fitted with the latest European amenities and offer total privacy and comfort. Thinking of hosting business friends? Our bar is a great place to meet and chat, and the magnificent conference room with its panoramic windows overlooking the lake will stun your guests, and is outfitted with everything you'll need to make your meeting a success. At all times - for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - our affordable wining and dining hideaway, The Snug, offers an unforgettable and very relaxed culinary experience: satisfying and inventive menus are changed daily to make the most of the great local fish, meats, and produce - and you can always ask the Chef to fix you whatever your heart desires at no extra cost. At the Yellow Haven, our motto is - The Personal Touch, Done to Perfection ... Come see why!

The hotel is in a good location and neighborhood. The garden and outside bar section is also cool. Only downside is the breakfast which had limited selection plus the internet which was low/ not available for most of our stay. Would recommend the double room with balconies as they looked beautiful than the single rooms.

This hotel is hidden away in the back streets of Kyanja. Well it is perfect. Quiet, secluded, well secured with a lovely friendly and helpful security guard (Ronald) on the gate. The rates are amazing for the facilities ( I’ve stayed in many hotels and this is one of the most luxurious budget hotels I have ever stayed in. The breakfast is also delicious, fresh and filling. We are free to do as we please, and the staff are discreet and very willing to help. Winnie the manager is friendly and welcoming and Shilla is one of the most content and conscientious house keepers we have ever encountered! Good Job guys ??????

A hidden gem in the quiet suburbs of Kampala with wonderful lake views, set in lovely gardens. This is a great spot to escape the hustle and bustle of Town, run by Swiss-German ex-pat Bernadette who is kind, welcoming and very helpful. As well as the included breakfast she can provide others meals on reauest and cold beers are always available. Very highly recommended.
