Reviewed By MuskokaflierThis hotel has only been open 2 months and there is still work being done and it's going to be even better when it's finished. We loved our stay here; we extended our stay twice. The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is adequate but not abundant. Best of all is the room. Beds and pillows are fantastic, and the shower is beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Reviewed By hotel_aficionado2011We wouldn't say it is the best, however it is one of our favorites. It is located in the heart of villa de Leyva. beautiful colonial look. a bit rustic. Service was great. They have a parking lot few blocks from hotel. They also have a Bistro in the first floor. The room was a quite small, very colonial. Bathroom on the smaller size, Bed was ok. TV and internet available. This is a very nice place however keep in mind is rustic and not your typical hotel. It is a big house with several rooms. You can hear everything, doors closing, steps, because everything is very close. Overall the service was fantastic. Location is just perfect. Walking distance to la Plaza. We only stay for one night, during a low season weekend. We felt we were in Spain. Think of a mediterranean colonial architecture with the Colombian flavors and great service.

I have been traveling to Colombia for the past 30 years and for the past 4 years living in Medellin. I have traveled and explored just about every area, every city and even more numerous small pueblos in Colombia than I can count. I have the time, the resources, the passion and the experience to understand reasonable expectations when it comes to Colombian hotels, hostels, restaurants, bars, activities, things to do and see and tours. I am pleased to provide this review of the Mongui Plaza Hotel which I stayed at last week for 2 nights and 3 days. My visit to Mongui last week satisfied my wish of traveling and exploring this area of Boyaca for about a decade now and I now can understand the allure of this small village. The hotel itself is typical of a hotel in a smaller pueblo that is off the beaten track. The service is good, the location is superb as it sits in the main plaza, the breakfast is sufficient and a good way to start the day, the rooms are clean and probably had the best hot shower that I have ever enjoyed in a hotel located in a small pueblo. The room has a radiant type heater located in the ceiling which provided needed warmth as it does tend to get very cool at night. I appreciate the free and very secure parking for my car in the hotels adjacent lot. As I started this road trip from Medellin and after Bogota continued here to Mongui I always appreciate when a hotel has parking for a car available. There is a little bar serving alcohol located right next door and so my travel partner (a paisa from Medellin) and myself got warmed up by some good wine the night we arrived. The setting of the hotel nestled in the plaza could not be more magical. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel and do recommend that others consider this hotel for your visit. Strong 4 stars review gladly given.

The best hotel in Cocuy
Reviewed By NossifotoHonestly after looking around a small town trying to find a hotel with parking for the motorbike we came across molino. Located just around the corner from the police station, they have credit card machine, hot water, restaurant, great rooms, very very polite and friendly staff. There were a few people at the hotel so we needed up getting separate rooms but they were huge ! The rooms were located out the back, two floors, bathroom, WiFi, towel, hot water, safe and secure! At the entrance they had a detailed map of the Sierra Nevada cocuy, very informative staff who were ready to help at every chance. The staff speak Spanish but do their very very best to speak English ! Great hotel, Great staff, super food options and I just loved the smiles!

Reviewed By CC_N_AUMy partner and I stayed here with his family while visiting the region. My partner is Colombian and they we friends with the owner. We were a large group (9) and initially were told they only had one large room with 4 beds they could offer us but upon arrival we were pleased to be given a second room. The hotel is very clean. The amenities are minimum but very adequate. The rooms were a nice size. The baths small but adequate - understandable as the property occupies a historic building. The best feature in my opinion was hot water and reliable internet - 2 things which can be rare in Colombia. Overall we were pleased with our stay.
