Originally built under Spanish rule in 1846, this lighthouse was destined to be part of the illumination of the Northern coast (which started in Las Cabezas de San Juan lighthouse in Fajardo to Los Morillos Lighthouse in Arecibo). After decades of constant exposure to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, this lighthouse had to be repaired in 1876 and it was given a lantern with a copper dome and an iron tower. Unfortunately, both the lantern and the tower were destroyed during the 1898 bombardment of el Morro by U.S. troops, and had to be rebuilt in 1899. Nowadays, you can admire its facade from Castillo San Felipe del Morro and learn more about its history during the guided tours.

Find a maritime museum and dolphin-spotting platform at this lighthouse in Rincon.
After a day of visiting 3 different beaches in Rincon, we wanted to catch the sunset and get pictures of the El Faro lighthouse. It was not difficult to find using google maps and there's plenty of free parking. Near the lighthouse entrance was a lady selling jewelry for good prices so I bought a few gifts there. The landscaping around the lighthouse and park area is beautiful and there are benches, gazebos and photo ops all around. The bar area overlooks Domes beach below. The prices are decent and it was nice to enjoy a mojito and watch the sunset and the waves below. On this particular night there was live music. We enjoyed out stop here. Check it out and enjoy.

A landmark Spanish-colonial style structure, this picturesque lighthouse sits perched atop a high cliff providing nearly 360-degree views of the sparkling Caribbean Sea.
This was breath-less view of the ocean! Words cannot describe how beautiful it but it is must-see experience! When driving to the location, be careful of all the pot-holes though!

Also known as Rincon Lighthouse or El Faro de Punta Higuero. No admission & lots of parking. It was a nice drive with some hilly narrow roads about 4km from the turn off of Hwy 115. The lighthouse is surrounded by a small park. It’s clean with lots of trees and places to sit. The lighthouse is made of concrete - 70 ft high. You cannot go up the lighthouse. The lighthouse is not the original one. It was rebuilt after it got damaged by an earthquake and then razed it years later after fire damaged. There’s also the Ola Sunset Cafe that’s a good spot to watch the sunset and the surfers on Domes Beach which is close to the lighthouse.

Early in the morning, I drove to Faro Los Morillos to avoid the crowds and enjoy the scenery. The dirt road had a few cyclists enjoying the day, too. Playuela Beach is a walking distance from the lighthouse.

Built in 1892. It is located on the southeast tip of the island. This lighthouse integrates the system of lighthouses of the east with the lighthouses of the south of the island. Its structure corresponds to the neoclassical style.
It was not easy to find a proper entrance in days of Covid, and we ended up parking at a location north of the lighthouse at the ecological park entrance. It is worth the trip for the magical pictures at the beach, and the isolation! We visited on a Saturday during lock-down and met a clean up crew and a couple for the less than two hours we were there. The views of the lighthouse from the beach were better than from the lighthouse, but make this a stop if you are any where neat this place!

This lighthouse was inaugurated in 1886 and belongs to the municipal government of Culebra. It is currently closed; however, you can visit and photograph from outside. The beaches and roads are accessible to the general public during the day. It is forbidden to spend the night and cook in Culebrita. You can arrange an excursion with "Water Taxi" or other private options to transport yourself to the island.

Some of the reviews here are not of this island but of Coffin Island. Cardona Island is merely a 15 boat ride from La Guancha area by a tour boat. It’s a great beautiful island! Beautiful beaches for swimming and snorkeling. The great beaches lacking in Ponce are here. You can bring your food or pay to be fed, I rather bring my own. Great for families with children of all ages. A must while in Ponce !

Once again we had this beautiful spot to ourselves. It is a short flat walk from a parking lot. The lighthouse itself is decaying and is fenced off. There is a sign explaining its history. The views from this point are spectacular!
