Six stars! Great Girls Weekend!!

Reviewed By Experience290587

Just book it. Don’t worry if it is a little more than you hoped to spend. Don’t pause to wonder if you really want to eat all of your meals there. Don’t worry if the accommodations and service will be as good as these reviews say. All of it will exceed your expectations. Just book it. Four of us took a moms weekend away and everything went beautifully. We booked the large wellness garden rooms which were extremely spacious with a huge walk in closet, separate toilet, separate steam shower, two sinks and huge bathtub. The room itself was large with various sitting areas including a couch, small table and bench. The balcony was beautiful and offered great sounds of birds throughout the day. The food was outstanding. I wasn’t sure if it would become repetitive to eat at the same place for many days, but that was completely untrue. Each meal had a unique twist, especially the dinners. Each night included live music at dinner. On Sunday, our last night, there was the Springtime Garden Festival, everyone ate outside, more live music, and it was really fun! But what will bring us back is the surroundings. The spa like atmosphere was so relaxing. There were so many places to unwind. Viera provided amazing (and included) Pilates and meditations that we thoroughly enjoyed. The pool was perfectly warmed for a relaxing swim. The grounds were immaculately maintained. The owner/proprietor checked in with us at least once daily to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Nearby, we hiked to the Hutte, the trail started very close to the hotel. We used the free bikes to ride around the Lake which was very worthwhile. We took morning walks and afternoon strolls. Finally, the service. Every person on staff was so friendly and caring, from answering all of our questions before arriving to assisting with our daily plans and booking massages when the spa there was full. They had a sense of humor and made us feel at home, learning our preferences very quickly. It was just outstanding. The clientele when we visited was mostly older Austrian couples. We had no idea why more groups of women weren’t there… this would be an outstanding place for a milestone birthday gathering or getaway. We called it “Himmel” (German for heaven) and it was. We cannot wait to return!

Nice family stay in Christmas time

Nice, family run hotel in a good location. Our family ( 3 adults ) spent here 5 days ( 17-22.12.2021)We arrived at the very first day after lock down. The first night was quite cold at the room, maybe due to the long period when the hotel remained closed. The next day we changed the room ( bigger size and mainly bigger and more comfortable bathroom) and all was already perfect. The room was really nice, very clean and modern equipped ( room No 238), perfect for 3-4 adults or family with children. There is a perfect wellness area and modern fitness room. We really enjoyed to use it. We came to Zell am See for skiing and the snow conditions were perfect. Ski bus stops just in front of the hotel and it takes 3 minutes to get to Areitbahn. We booked our stay with HB. Breakfast is served as buffet, very rich variety of warm and cold dishes. Dinner is served from 6 pm until 8.30 pm, but sometimes it was difficult to be on time, as there are many things to do at the hotel. Maybe it will be reasonable to extend the dinner until 9 pm? Drinks for dinner are not included in the HB. Very nice bar at the ground floor, great service. We will definitely come again.

We were a party of 12 including two children aged 4 and 7. The hotel met all our needs . The food was excellent with so much variety . All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We loved visiting the swimming pool at the end of the day. The water was lovely and warm. We had a lovely view down to the lake from our room. It was only a short walk to the cable car. If there had been more snow we could easily have skied in and out and some of our party did so. Thankyou Hotel Berner for providing us with a wonderful holiday in a beautiful location we would love to return one summer.

Stunning Location and Service

We originally booked for Christmas 2020 , but due to Covid this was cancelled. The hotel asked if we would like to go in 2021. We jumped at the chance. Despite various hurdles put in our way we made to the hotel. We were shown to our room were a Christmas tree was waiting for our presents t be put under it. The view from the hotel room down the lake was beautiful. Despite all the Covid restrictions the hotel did their best to make sure as many as the activities as possible took place. Cocktail making classes , dinner in the wine cellar. New Years Eve could have the full feeling and excitement , as all the bars and restaurants had curfew , which meant no staying in the bar to celebrate the New Year. The hotel still managed to make it special by delivering canapes and champagne to the room so we could celebrate. Most people went to their balconies and toasted each other , but socially distanced. We would love to return when things are back to "normal" an experience the full Christmas and New Year festivities. A special mention must go the minibus drivers for there work in transporting guests from the hotel to the ski lifts , it made life so much easier. The restaurant staff were fantastic , the food was amazing and always plentiful with lots of choices. I must say our waiter Alexander was totally professional but also completely approachable if we needed to change anything. After skiing the afternoon snacks and entertainment in bar were a must. There is only one thing I would say we were very grateful to be sat in Stubli part of the restaurant , away from the dinner live entertainment , which at times seemed rather loud. This purrly our opinion I am sure a great many people enjoyed , but it just not to our taste.

Cannot fault this hotel! We stayed over Christmas and had the most wonderful time. The room was perfect and incredibly comfy. We were overlooking the lake which also means the train is immediately outside but despite this we did not hear a thing when the door to the balcony was closed. The staff are incredible and friendly. The food is excellent, it is well worth going half board, we had the most delicious breakfast and the three course evening meals were to die for! Incredibly varied menu, I was pleasantly full every night! Incredible location for the slopes and the amenities of the town, just a short walk away from some lovely bars. 10/10 would go again!

The Romantik is amazing. We are always happy to arrive to the charming, Austrian hotel welcomed by the local 4 generations of the Horl family & Maxi. Great value for the money in fact it deserves 5 stars. The team that look after you can not do enough to make sure that everything is perfect. The rooms have a WOW factor everyone different & immaculate, Thank you cleaning fairies we hardly ever see you but we know you have been. The hotel & dining room sparkle. The food deserves Michelins stars. Breakfast has everything you can think of & more. Morning post on your table lets you know what is happening that day, if you need motivation, after a hearty breakfast. Cake in the afternoon just to keep you going. Kick off the evening with cocktails by the fire before going for a 5 course dinner. Well cooked using local ingredients & presented. The restaurant team are well trained & happily see to everything you need with a smile. Back to the fire maybe a schnapps or 2 or a night cap. Catch up with old friends & make new ones to hear all their adventures. There are plenty of them to share & laugh about. The spa are is super with many treatments to enjoy, relax, swim in the indoor to outdoor pool. It is a win win holiday. As I write this I am thinking why did we leave it is never long enough. It seems a long time to the next ski season but I believe that Summer is exceptional also. The garden must look amazing, another adventure beckons. We book direct with the hotel, Simone on reception can advise everything you need to know. It looks like I will be checking flights.. Excited just writing this, my advice is stay as long as you can, I like reading the other reviews between us all it shows how many people are happy to return & do. Mixed feelings about my stay

Reviewed By 53rk

The bad news first. I had a single room which was perfectly nice except that there were 2 mattresses there of which only one was made up (this only served to emphasise my aloneness!). I suspect two people were accommodated there on occasion but the 2 mattresses necessitated repositioning of the bed meaning I had no bedside light accessible to me. This was a safety issue in the middle of the night. The hotel advertises a spa/wellness area which comprises a small (dipping only really) pool, foot spa and two saunas and resting area. The brochure in the room clearly states that as the saunas are turned on at 4 p.m. children are not allowed in the area after that time. During my stay, there was a group of families together whose children were down in the pool area every evening jumping into the small pool (about 4x3 metres)(jumping in expressly forbidden) and occupying the deckchairs with their things despite never using them. These children were aged around 7 years to 12 years. With 7 or so in the pool at one time, there was no possibility for anyone else to enter or have any peaceful enjoyment. Furthermore, use of the saunas was pointless as there was no relaxation due to the shrieking of the children in the pool all the time. Three teenage girls from the same group of families kept opening the sauna door and leaving it open which, needless to say, let all the heat out. Others besides myself complained to reception but nothing was done about it. On one evening midweek, I asked pointedly if children were permitted after 4 pm. This was at 4.20 pm and I said that it was impossible to enjoy the sauna with the noise. I was told that they were on holiday and it was difficult and I was asked to give them until 5 p.m. and they would advise the parents that the children must be gone by then. I reluctantly agreed to this and came down at 5. 10 p.m. to find the children all still there and no attempt by the parents to remove them. It was also the case that the children were down there unaccompanied at times which, given their ages, was a recipe for tragedy. If you value the spa relaxation on a ski holiday as I do, I would not recommend going to this hotel. My experience would stop me returning. As a solo traveller, I had looked forward to a nice sitting area after dinner. The bar area in this hotel is very small and insufficient for the numbers who stay there. As such, there were times when there was nowhere to sit and I had no option but to return to my room to read. The good points. The staff who cleaned the rooms and those in the restaurant/bar were very nice and the food was very good. The hotel made an effort at entertainment during the week which was nice. They had house cocktails for before dinner which were good. As a skier, the hotel is a few minutes walk from the CityExpress lift and very central for apres ski strolling. Will I return? If I saw that they were advertising the spa area as adults only, definitely. Otherwise, probably not. It was a huge disappointment to me this past week being unable to enjoy a relaxing time after coming in from the slopes. Realistically, the pool is too small for children who wish to have fun and there is a large town pool a short walk away where families could bring children who wished to have pool fun. I feel that the hotel should either make it clear that the spa area is adult only or they should rigidly enforce their rule of no children after 4 p.m.
