Reviewed By MurpholocityPerfect location in the town of Veurne. Well situated close to the grote market. We stayed in the triple room (double bed plus a single) and it was very clean and comfortable. Nice size room and a separate private bathroom. Of note, it is in the second floor and there are narrow stairs to access it. They have bike rentals which we took advantage of. The bikes we had were in good condition. The service was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The capper to a great stay. Thanks!

Reviewed By KigomaThe hotel is just off the main square and thus close to nearly everything that Veurne has to offer. Room was clean and well appointed. There is a lift. The parking is not diffucult to find though off site. It is secure. Very welcoming staff & owners Breakfast is sufficient

The grounds of the hotel are well maintained with a few tables and chairs at the front to enjoy the peace and afternoon sunshine. Our room was very comfortable. The location is perfect for seeing the best of Veurne (which in itself is a very nice place). Breakfast was excellent. And finally, the lady at reception, and breakfast, was very friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to help us with the next stage of our cycling tour in Belgium. First class. Highly recommended.

A Warm A Warm Welcome Awaits At B&B Het Schaliënhof!
Reviewed By welltravelledgirlWe would like to thank Martine & the Houtsaeger Family for the warm welcome we received at B&B Schalienhof, for the night we stayed, on 27/7/18. Our conversation started earlier that week, when we booked the only remaining accommodation ‘Lavendel’, having been let down by our previously booked Hotel in De Panne. Martine accepted our reservation over the telephone, and trusted us to turn up on the day for payment, for which we are very grateful, given the late reservation! This was our first time driving on the continent in our own car. Having disembarked the ferry in Dunkirque, we wanted a fairly local (within 30mins of arrival), place to stay in Belgium, with some homely touches. We were not disappointed. Het is not too far from the motorway, and is easy to find with a sat nav, despite its very rural location (it is a lovely farm). There is ample safe, parking, enough for each of the 6 ‘duplex’ style units. We tried to keep Martine updated on our progress throughout the day, and she provided a very efficient check-in on our arrival. Check-in was completed in their ‘honesty bar’ “Bar Rene” (a very nice touch, despite our not being able to use it), but for anyone staying longer, this is a lovely place to hang out, and say ‘hi’ to any other guests. She took us to our accommodation, a great two story, two attic bedroomed, duplex apartment style room. Very modern, with a comfortable lounge/diner, with tv/stereo, downstairs toilet, two bedrooms (ideal for a small family), and a shower room. No kitchen, but Martine provided a great continental breakfast in the price (freshly baked bread/croissants, selection of jams, meat/cheeses, and also offered eggs cooked to your liking. Nice restaurants can be recommended and found not too far away in Veurne. Our only problem was that our stay coincided with the very hot/humid weather being experienced throughout Europe, and as the bedrooms are built into the eaves with small windows, we found it quite uncomfortable to sleep. We never asked Martine or her family if any fans were available, but it might have been helpful to have had one provided automatically, given the weather. It’s also worth remembering that the B&B is a working farm with horses, and the manure heap is to the rear of Lavendel, if you’re opening the windows to provide airflow, it may prove ‘fresher’ than expected ?! Sadly we were only able to stay one night on our drive through to Germany to visit our daughter, and wish it could have been longer. If we ever decide to drive again, we now know where we will be able to have a comfortable, welcoming stay, and would recommend it to others wanting a stay close to arrival/departure into the ferry terminal at Dunkirque, hopefully you won’t be disappointed.

Ateljee Devlaux is the B&B if you want to have a nice, calm and friendly stay. Also the unique landscape is amazing. Every room has its own terrace with the most beautiful view. Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Ateljee Devlaux offers pet-friendly accommodations in Veurne, just 41.8 km from Bruges. There is a water park on site and guests can enjoy the on-site bar. Free private parking is available on site. Each room comes with a flat-screen TV. There is a coffee machine and a kettle in the room. In the morning, you can enjoy a full (and included) breakfast, again with the amazing view. There are lots of activities in the area, such as horseback riding and biking. The bed and breakfast also provides bike rental. Oostende is 24.1 km from Ateljee Devlaux, and Blankenberge is 41.8 km away. We speak your language!

Reviewed By freds586Great location near the motorway, a small railway station and the coast, 20' walk from the city center, but still very quiet. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Very clean room and bathroom. Free and safe parking. Room and patio overlooking a field. Excellent breakfast. When traveling to the coast in the future, we will certainly return to the 'Ateljee Devlaux'.

Definite advantage is the covered parking and the fact that the B+B is so handy for all the attractions. Main shopping street, museums restaurants and bars all less than 5 minutes walk. Highly recommended
