Nice hotel but expensive
Reviewed By diFeehelyThis was our first experience at a beach location of the Baltic Sea. Although the hotel's website is not in English, the staff at the hotel were very kind in conversing with us in English. Everyone was very professional. Perhaps it was COVID and/or cultural differences but there was no real warmth at this hotel. We were slightly frustrated with breakfast. It was held in settings and by the time we checked-in to the hotel, the only time available was closer to late morning-lunch for the entire time we were booked. Alternative options were given - eating from our room (okay not great for EUR43) and we later found out (which worked out better) eating outside on the Strand. Options at breakfast was fine but nothing to blow you away. It must be challenging for the staff as it is not a full buffet service but you have to let them know what to put on your plate. They really did their best. The room was nice and comfortable. The pool is great. There is a free COVID testing centre and a place to hire bikes in front of the hotel. This hotel is not located near any shopping. I thought this was a plus but might affect some people's decision. For the price paid we expected more - we thought the prices were quite comparable with hotels in Switzerland (not on the beach of course!) with warmer service. For example, there was a coffee and tea service in the afternoon. It would have been nice if this was complimentary which it is, even in hotels in Zermatt. One other thing that bothered us was that those Strandkorb (?) you see on their website are not free and not part of the hotel. They need to be rented separately.

Good location - quite traditional
Reviewed By SAPStarStayed here for a short break at the sea. Good location near the centre of town and on the street in front of the beach, but land side. Plenty of parking and good friendly service from the staff - very much a family feel. Facilities were good and the rooms a good size and feeling fresh. Like the hotel's name, they had a fairly traditional feel to them. No zircon if you are staying in summer - street side faces north, but it is a sleepy place - quieter car park side faces south. Overall, a good balance of location and price.

Rooms were clean, spacious and pleasant; breakfast was simply superb with something for every taste; personnel was friendly, accommodating and helpful. The location is great with just a few steps to the beach.

This is not what we were expecting from one of what was used to be the finest hotels in Timmendorfer Strand.
Reviewed By case08When I booked the room I also booked fruit and made a reservation for two persons at the dinner buffe. When we came to our room it had a lovely wiev but we didn´t have any fruit. Went down to the reception. They had missed it. We should get fruit immediately. We waited for almost an hour. No fruit. Went down again. The receptionist went herself to the kitchen. She was very nice. After a while we got our fruit. But then we were a bit cold, freezing. The were no heat at the radiator. Went down again to the reception. After a while the caretaker came and fixed it. Then it was time for us to eat. We went down to the buffe room but we were not allowed in. We were not on the list and all the places were reserved. The restaurant was nearly empty! We went to the reception again. Now we had to sit in the bar drinking sloppy beer and wineshorle for about 20 minutes before we were allowed in to the restaurant. It was an oriental buffé And by the way the food tasted It was not made by love, The food was a disappointment, the oriental fish,never heard of that species before, was just head and bones left. In the early morning I did not feel well. I had to vomit.. Later I tried to drink some water, I could not keep it. In the morning my husband went down and ate breakfast He brought me some tea but I could not keep it. I do not know if it was the fruit or the food that made me sick.. As I was very sick we had to leave on friday instead of saturday as we had planned. .

Reviewed By Dennis SBeen here before but never reviewed. Lovely little coffee shop. We popped in for snacks whilst walking on Niendorf Promenade. Easily found just round the corner from the small harbour, right on the seaside prom. I had some White hot Chocolate which was amazing. Lovely milky bar type flavour. Instead of snacks we had really nice desserts instead. I had some Kaiserschmarn, chunks of delicious cake covered with vanilla sauce and served with some soft fruit. My friends had a plum doughnut concoction. Proper name escapes me. It is like a big cakey doughball oozing with plum sauce in the middle. All really tasty. Staff were polite and helpful. Unfortunately it is not cheap here. 3 drinks and 3 desserts cost nearly €40 so be aware of this please. Super treat tho,after walking in the cold.

Zimmer durch Dachschrägen extrem klein, ein Doppelbett (140x200) für 2 Personen, 2 große Sessel und ein Tisch mit 1x Wasserkocher und 1x Kapselmaschine sowie Minikühlschrank. Eine Kochecke, die ich glaubte gebucht zu haben, gab es nicht. Die Veluxfenster lassen sich nicht auf Kipp stellen, Ventilator laut und alt. Einzig das Bad war relativ neu und geräumig, aber wer will sich schon die ganze Zeit im Bad auf halten? Entfernung zum Ortskern von Timmendorf mit 700m angegeben, stimmt so gar nicht, es sind locker 1,40 Meter, wenn nicht noch mehr. Kommunikation nur über Email und diese auch eher unfreundlich. Für mich bisher die schlechteste und teuerste Unterkunft, die ich ich je in Timmendorf gebucht habe.
