Wonderful stay at the Hotel Villa Ludwig Chalet
Reviewed By jh211We had another wonderful stay at Hotel Villa Ludwig. We are multi-time guests at this hotel, but this is the first time we rented the chalet. We rented the chalet during their off season in Nov and had a wonderful time. Annette, the owner, and her staff made sure our needs were met and provided the hospitality that we’ve come to appreciate from this boutique hotel. But first, we need to describe the chalet. It is a historic building originally owned by a duchess of the Bavarian royal family. While it is a historic building, Annette has done a nice job upgrading the bathrooms and kitchen, including Miele appliances. They also installed an infrared sauna in the master bathroom. The kitchen comes fully stocked, allowing us to cook multiple meals and enjoy espressos and lattes. The beds are comfortable, and the chalet is well furnished. Allowing us to spread out and relax during the entire week we rented the place. The views were as shown. We had great views of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The chalet has a private drive and lots of outdoor space with a gas grill for barbecues during warm weather. As mentioned, Annette provided service above and beyond what was expected. We knew going in that the hotel proper would only be open for the first two days of our stay. During the period that the hotel was closed, Annette had fresh baked goods delivered each morning. What a nice touch. Then there were the personal touches, like sharing some wine one evening with Annette while discussing the area, hotel history, and other common topics. She helped us by providing suggestions on activities and reservations. One highlight was my wife’s birthday dinner. Annette made arrangements at a nice Italian restaurant, Restaurant Rivera, on the Hopfensee. When we showed up the staff was prepared, they escorted us to a decorated table with petals and sparkles. For dessert, the staff brought chocolate cake with a large sparkler. Annette has contacts with all the locals and can help arrange a host of services. This hotel has earned its well-deserved reputation as an outstanding boutique hotel.

We had to come a day later and leave a day earlier and they were really accommodating and didn’t charge us for cancelling at the last moment. We really appreciated that! Breakfast was the best we had in Europe at SNT if our hotels.

Absolutely incooperative
Reviewed By FranziskaS289My daughter had to be admitted to a hospital in Ulm on short notice so I tried to move my reservation by a few days. I have the highest elite status at Best Western but the hotel was nevertheless unwilling to support my request. I only received the heartless comments that I should have had a travel insurance and that the car ride to Ulm is less than two hours each way on the Autobahn. Other than this problem the hotel was pretty clean and the buffet sumptuous.

Good but a boring location
Reviewed By KmjsbFar from the city, not very 'cosy'. Around the hotel not very much dinner opportunities beside the MacDonalds. Breakfast was very good. Corona rules very good. At breakfast there were cloves that had to be used. Parking is also good. The room and bathroom are very good.

Reviewed By Neil BWe stayed in the castle themed part of this complex. Facilities are fairly basic but clean and the themed decoration is great for kids. Very well organised reception, and good easy start for visiting the theme park. Breakfast was very good with lots of options. Only minor point us the large canteen breakfast room is not very cosy.

The food was delicious but I’ve never felt so uncomfortable or unwanted traveling outside of the USA. Dirty looks from waitress, taking orders from three other groups seated after us, repeatedly having to ask for water, waiting until the room was almost empty to receive the check (busy clearing table for no one waiting), greeting was forced and insincere at best while others were greeted in a warm and friendly manner. My husband who is very good at ignoring these sorts of things said he would have walked out if it wasn’t raining so hard. The food was very good once it finally arrived but the hostility couldn’t be overlooked. We’ve traveled to Japan, Italy, Netherlands, France, Spain and other parts of Germany and we’ve never been treated like this. It was sad and disappointing. We went through a travel agency to book this multi country vacation and we will let them know to steer other Americans away from places where we aren’t wanted.

Beautiful views on mountains. Breakfast was excellent, the breakfast area itself is beautiful. It was a wonderful experience and we will gladly come back in the future.

Business hotel with great kitchen
Reviewed By 344blankasThe hotel is absolutely huge so ideal for large meetings and conferences. The restaurant currently has limited lunch hours due to covid restrictions but meals can be pre-ordered for events and they were absolutely delicious and served in more than substantial quantity. They have a changing menu for dinner every night but their all la carte menu is also available with but not exclusively a really good flammkuchen. The rooms are simple but comfortable so overall the Luitpoldpark is a great base in Füssen, just across the street from the train station and a five minute walk away from the historic old town.
