Gries im Sellrain only became an official municipality under Bavarian occupation in 1811. Church History of Gries im Sellraintal Ahornhof was used as the sovereign's hunting property for centuries . In 1760, it was rebuilt as a parsonage for two priests from the Wilten monastery, who worked in the community. Gries then received its own parish in 1891.
