We were so frustrated with the staff and couldn't wait to leave. A shame as the hotel could be good
Reviewed By Mikael EThe positive thing was that the room had a terrasse and everything in the room was OK. The view from the hotel (but not our room) is great. The bad: The wifi didn't work. I asked one employee and she said; "The wifi always works. If you can't get it to work, then YOU are doing something wrong" and then she left!!! Tried to talk to another staff member, but other than showing me the password, she couldn't / wouldn't help. The next morning it - as by a miracle - worked, without us doing anything. Talked to a 3rd employee (the manager?) when checking out, and he said that the staff doesn't know anything about the wifi, and showed me it worked. However, at the same time, the network to the credit card terminal stopped working... The trash can in the room smelled so badly from smoking/cigarettes I had to place it outside. Had to reserve a timeslot in the restaurant, even though it was almost empty (other hotels and restaurants in Germany simply asks you to fill out a form for Corona tracking purposes)... The room was very small.

Reviewed By larsbop995We bought a deal for about 140 Euro / person for three nights with all inclusive. Not much but the value was accordingly. The rooms are old, carpet dirty and the beds very soft. It all both lookes like and is many years old. The evening dinner was bad, no chef could ever be satisfied making this. The best description is that it reminded us of a dinner in a prison movie. Breakfast was the same. Dry bread, salami and boring scrambled eggs The beverage: beer was ok, Wine ?? I wonder if it was Wine at all? We can not recommend this. The Price is ok, but skip the dinner and make a wonderful breakfast instead

Reviewed By Laura LThe stay was perfect due in great part to the wonderful hospitality of Frau and Herr Schnellmann. The hotel is lovely, clean, quiet, and peaceful. The rooms are very nice and the upgraded rooms are beautiful. Breakfast is delicious and varied. The price is excellent. The location, in a natural setting, is close to walking, hiking, and quite good restaurants. One might say there is nothing exceptional about it, that it provided a comfortable, peaceful stay, and that is true! However, the hosts make Haus am Hochwald much more than a "hotel" and made my stay absolutely the best! They are friendly, generous, and so attentive to the individual needs of each guest, that the entire atmosphere is one of a warm and homey Bed&Breakfast, with the all the amenities of a good hotel! I felt pampered and cared for, as they remembered all my preferences and catered to me with little details like always leaving a thermos of hot water in the evenings for my tea, digging up local guidebooks in English (my German is not so good), picking me up at the bus station, and even calling me in the evening after I'd been out all day to make sure I got in safely. They treated each guest with the same kindness ... and to me that makes it a place I would recommend to anyone and would happily return to! Thank you Frau and Herr Schnellmann! ... Central, quiet and friendly
Reviewed By Frollein89We stayed here for two nights and found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was quite small but perfectly clean. The hotels location is very nice: A short walk through the forest (about 10 minutes) and you arrive at the cabin station of Bocksberg and the (very small but lovely) "city centre" with a few restaurants. Unfortunately the sauna was not included (8,50€ per person) so we only used the indoor pool which was quite nice. The breakfast was not more than standard, everything was fine but we would have loved some fresh vegetables. The first evening we had diner at the hotels restaurant which was ok but nothing special. We missed the variety. All in all we would recommend this hotel but would miss out diner.

Reviewed By Hauptsache_sauberDie Unterkunft ist sehr sauber, mein Zimmer war hell und hatte eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Die Betreiber sind sehr sympathisch und hilfsbereit. Das Haus wird offensichtlich sehr liebevoll geführt. Die Umgebung ist insgesamt auch schön, allerdings hatte ich mir die Wege etwas netter vorgestellt - es gibt viel Kahlschlag und viele Wanderwege scheinen vor allem für die Forstwirtschaft genutzt zu werden. Vielleicht war das aber auch nur temporär oder ich hatte Pech in meiner Auswahl.
