Disappointing and Unhygienic

Reviewed By Neumeuer

And when I arrived at this hotel I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the greeting I received. However my feelings towards the hotel changed when I arrived in my room and found a pair of men’s boxers under the pillow from a previous guest! In addition to this I requested a wake up call for 09:00 so that I could get my train at 10:15; unfortunately there was no wake up call and I must now get another train at 18:25. This means I will miss several very important meetings and a number of my clients will be disappointed. Finally the worst part of my experience is that the manager decided that meeting with me to apologise and remedy the situation didn’t warrant their attention. Needless to say I am very disappointed by my experience at this hotel and will not be returning furthermore I will be instructing the accounts division of my company to discontinue any relationship that we have with this hotel.

Cozy small hotel

Checkin and out: fast enough. Clean. Bed was one of the best hotel beds for a long time. Great plus. Old style, which I like after all those bulk hotel chains. Breakfast not very wide variety but enough. Taste & quality was good. Typical improvement to many hotels: please have good quality black teas, please.

Heiner's Parkhotel

Very "soothing" overnight stay during business trip. Cosy, smooth design, great service.

Reviewed By FredericPlasson

WONDERFUL ROOMS. Very modern. Cosy design: wood, white and purple. Attention to detail: Modern bathroom. Lots of light switches and electric plugs. Free extras: it's so little but other hotels wont just do it: free bottle of water, free tea and coffee, a big bowl of sweets, ear plugs.... The room was so nice it had a "soothing" effect on my mood immediately, after a tiring business travel. AMAZING BED and great QUIETNESS during the quiete hours: only very rare and very dimmed noise from the outside. SLEPT LIKE A BABY, what rarely occurs on business trips. SERVICE: a quiete room was reserved even though I checked in late, the ironing board I asked for was waiting in the room at arrival. LOCATION: no street noise. Train line on the back of the building. 5-10 minutes walk to the S-Bahn (local train), 10 minutes taxi (15€) to main train station. Nothing in the near surroundings, but you wouldn't go there to enjoy burstling nightlife. GOOD BREAKFAST: not a huge buffet, but varied and very good quality tasty components. Very good coffee. Fresh ingredients, like fresh orange juice to press yourself. GOOD INTERNET for my three devices. Vouchers are for two devices, just ask for another one if you have more devices. Did't use it (no car..) but there seems to be PARKING directly at the hotel. An enormous car park in the building next door. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT and advice to the management: The NOISE ISOLATION INSIDE THE BUILDING The door from the staircase to the corridor slams with incomprehensibly amazingly loud noise. So do the room doors. The corridor floor is very hard, you hear people's heels and.... the rolling suitcases. I don't understand how a hotel on this level of design and attention to well being included this noise factor in their concept. BUT: if in Gelsenkirchen, this will be my hotel choice again!

No sleep, mean owner

Reviewed By eli b

Horrible hotel experience - noise and customer-hating staff (owner?). There is a Japanese restaurant directly below my room (I'm on the first floor, which in Germany, means the second floor). It sounds like a construction project going on underneath my feet as I type this. Even with the TV turned up quite loud, I feel like people are pounding constantly underneath. The restaurant employees also yell at each other very loudly. Room security. Although they give you a key to your room (and the door to the building because reception has limited hours on weekends, and only open 7AM to 9PM weekdays), you must lock the door from the inside to be safe at night. Also, to exit the room, I have to use the key. So if there is an emergency, I have to first find the key, and then find the door, and then find the lock. Hotel rooms should be open for EGRESS without a key. And for our safety, they should lock on entry. Then my TV broke (neither the remote nor the buttons on the TV worked). The lady on the phone was grouchy and said I should press P. Over and over "Press P". She scolded on an on, and said she'd come to my room, eventually. I waited and after 15 minutes I panicked, realizing their open hours only last til 9 PM . I called again to ask if she was coming. She yelled at me, "I CANNOT FLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Extremely grouchy, she came to my room and tried to find the P button on the remote. There is no P button. She then tried exchanging the batteries, as I suggested. That worked. She literally backed out of the room scolding me about my room reservations, cuz I'd had a mix up with my room planning and will have to switch rooms. I didn't realize that my twice stated "THREE NIGHTS" would be misinterpreted two nights. If there is a problem, they will try to make you feel guilty about it. They will try to make you feel bad about calling reception at 8:30 PM. I asked if I could change to a quieter room, due to the "what sounds like construction" and the lady said, "There is no construction!" I said, "I said, 'It sounds like construction, but it's the restaurant. They are banging around in the kitchen so loud my bed shook, and it goes on until midnight.'" She replied, "I don't believe that." Then she said the entire hotel is booked (this whole time I've seen maybe 10 other guests). After telling me the entire hotel is booked, she switched to another story, "Did you use your toilet today?" "Yes." "Then you cannot switch rooms!" I asked if she could give me ear plugs and she told me I'd have to go to the store, which is very far away, and it's snowing. But she wouldn't stop. She continued to berate me for not asking for another room sooner, and that I'm overly sensitive to noise. I just stood there as she continued to tell me how wrong I was, she went on and on. In typical German customer service style, she made it obvious to me that I am a huge problem in her daily life, rather than a paying customer.
