Reviewed By BallnerUnfortunately I had to cancel my stay at Dann Monasterio - at 10.00 am on the arrival day. Usually you would have to pay 100% cancellation fee ..... NOT at this hotel. They were so helpful and didn’t charge not even 1 Peso. This is very rare in those times ...! Thank you very much for your understanding and your kindness. I will definitely recommend this hotel and stay there hopefully in the near future!

Good hotel in not such a good location
Reviewed By no818528Ok, lets start with the positives. Having tried many hotels in Popayan, this one is very good. Taking into account the low price, makes it a little more appealing. My room, a single was a whopping $15. It was clean and had hot water! Breakfast is extra for $2! However, breakfast closes at 8:45 am so you need to be sharp if you want some eggs! None of the rooms have air conditioning but that is okay for the evening temp in Popayan. You get one towel per person (don't bother asking for extra towels), and a bottle of liquid soap. What do you expect for the price you are paying? The hotel is clean and the staff are very pleasant. Ok, now the negative! The hotel is not a great part of town. It isn't surrounded by short stay hotels and of an evening you will see street walkers; women and men. I would not walk around this areas after the sun goes down. All in all, I would still recommend it, if you are careful. Cannot be the price, and cleanliness is a huge factor. Just do not turn right, when you leave the hotel.

Soulless hotel - better outside than inside!
Reviewed By VickyU627I guess this might be the only place to stay in Popayan- though there’s not much to see here and we were just breaking the journey. It looks promising with two large courtyards but our ground floor room was more Like a cell with a large bed, white walls and one dark picture. And a courtyard opening window that need curtains or everyone could look in, adding to the darkness. The bathroom however was modern and good. Tried to get a beer from the restaurant. No dice. Getting a drink in Popayan is actually very difficult as it seems to be full of cafes and not much else. Even dinner is hard work. The breakfast was perfunctory and soulless. In fact the whole place was impersonal and disappointing. A one night if you must kind of place

Les Balcons it's the newest hostel opened at city, in July of 2018, the location in the center of the city gives you the change to explore with confort, We are situated in the heart of Popayan and all the sights are within easy walking distance, also we have a supermarket in front of us and many shops around. Please note that the rates given on this site include breakfast. There's four reasons why Les Balcons its the better decision you can make: 1. Best Cleanliness 2. Most Amenities 3. We're the hostel from travellers for travellers 4. Excellent location.

Reviewed By Robert937Central location in the old town, just two blocks from the main square. An Exito supermarket and comida just across the street. Good facilities, like a pleasant communal space and reasonable well equipped kitchen with tables and chairs. Stayed at the rear 4-bed room, which was quiet. Hot shower (of short duration) and clean toilets. WiFi worked well, also in the room. Friendly helpful staff who do their best to make your stay enjoyable. Overall a very good hostel. Stayed four days, much longer than planned! Breakfast could be available earlier (now 7:30AM). Too late if you want to take an early bus. One egg is enough, perhaps add an orange or banana. Rooms at the rear are more quiet.

Reviewed By 651kentwAs soon as you enter the property, you will have calmness , the rooms are cosy with great big beds. you have to do a walk to the river with the host, it is amazing to have this walk thru coffee plants. Morning coffee on the terrace is with birds singing, calmness all there :)

C'est le meilleur rapport qualité prix que l'on ait trouvé après nos 3 mois de voyage dans des hostels. 35 000Cop pour une chambre avec 1 lit double. Les sanitaires et la cuisine sont très propres et fonctionnels. Le gérant est arrangeant et donne d'excellent conseils. Le patio est très agréable. On recommande vivement !

Good for one night
Reviewed By ElenaP2205The hotel is good for one night stay....and we made the mistake to get frozen by staying 2 nights here. Positive: very clean, some rooms are nice, colonial building. Negative: in the fotos the hotel seems better than in the reality. Some rooms are really small and because I've insisted I get a large room. During the night in the room is getting very cold, they said they couldn't offer some warm water for preparing a tea, the water from the shower is almost cold...so there is no way to warm just to sleep (and forget where you are). The breakfast is basic (basic coffee, juice, eggs,bread). In the first day we received also butter and jam, in the second they didn't offer these.
