We stayed in a spacious and comfortable family room for 2 nights in April, we slept well on both nights Staff from reception to Dining to Bar to management were very helpful and attentive whenever we needed service, We ate at the hotel both nights and the food quality was very good. Parking was conveniently located. Pool was closed but that was reflected in the rate offered, parts of the premises are due a decor upgrade . Overall though we were very satisfied with our stay and if offered similar value in the future will probably return for another stay Keep up the good work Broadhaven staff team !

A flying voluntary visit ?

Reviewed By kimboslice118

The hostel is located in a beautiful remote area in West County Mayo- surrounded by animals and hills. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy peace. Betty the owner, is such a genuinely friendly soul, who wants the best for all her guests. I've just volunteered for her for a few days, and it was just amazing, I already want to come back. She gave me duck eggs from her ducks, gorgeous vine tomatoes from her veg patch, and constantly checked I was comfortable and well fed! All the locals know Betty and the family, and all speak very highly. The locals and everyone else are so friendly and welcoming to me, which is a bonus being a solo traveller, (who has no idea where she is!) There is only 1 bus going to Kilcommon from Castlebar, which is where you have to change if you're coming from Knock. It leaves at 5pm. Hiring a car or bringing your own transport is more ideal if you wish to explore further parts of Mayo. But if you're happy on foot, there are some stunning walks up the hills and down to the beach. I would highly recommend this hostel for everyone, it is spotless, comfortable, beautiful and warm. Come to escape, relax, explore, meditate, drink, eat and enjoy! Thank you Betty n Co. ?

Luxury Glamping pods set in a stunning location overlooking Trawmore bay and Belmullet town. Access to Claggan Island is via a causeway/beach and is accessible all year round. We do however have to allow for high tides, we can get cut off for 1-2 hours during spring tides (3 or 4 days per month for 1-2hours each day) The pods have been located to provide our guests with stunning views combined with the peace and tranquillity that only island living can provide. The Pods are set in the heart of a working farm where cows & calves will be grazing only yards away from where you sleep. The farmyard is full of a variety of hens & ducks of all breeds. We also have a thriving rabbit population on Claggan island. The pods are ideal as a romantic getaway or for families with small children. The pods are a 5 minute walk from the beach, where both beaches are safe for children to play and the sea is safe to swim, with no dangerous currents. The pods have been arranged to provide luxury accommodation in a stunning location, they each have a double bed and pull out couch so can easily sleep up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children. Each pod is also equipped with a toilet and whb, 4 double sockets & an oil heater to keep you cosy in winter. There is a communal kitchen/shower area in a converted barn 70 yards from the pods. Bru Chlann Lir is a gorgeous B&B, located a comfortable distance from Belmullet and within viewing distance of the ocean. Our host Josephine went above and beyond in welcoming us and in providing local suggestions for hiking and resturants. Her home is spotless and the views are grand. Breakfast was rated delicious by the family. Don't miss the nearby golf course, be it for food or a round. The scenery in the area is beautiful beyond description and limitless. Views on the coastal overlooks are some of the best in Ireland. Our stay exceeded all expectations, and Josephine helped it all come together. We will definitely be back.

The B&B is located about 3km from Belmullet so you'll need to budget for taxis if you want to go to the village for a pint. Upon arrival we were told our room number and that was the first and last we saw of the host, no showing us to the room or the usual niceties. Our room was small but clean We paid €90 for a double room for one night, this didn't include breakfast, we may have paid the extra €10 per person for the breakfast if it had been offered upon arrival but it wasn't. In hindsight I'm glad we didn't, €90 is about the standard price for a room including breakfast, we had a delicious breakfast in the village for less than that per person.
