Perfect option for holiday
Reviewed By tso lOne excellent hotel for my family holiday. My entire family stayed here for 3 nights, everyone there treated us as their friends, offered helps without even asking. The rooms are huge, clean, great view. In the morning, you might see a pony walk through the road under your window, and give you a fresh start for a peaceful day. Their restaurant is outstanding, food and service are unbelievably great, ice cream might be one of the best in the world.

Good for weekend or overnight stay
Reviewed By Olaf JSome years ago we had two nights in this hotel I(nice old facade) in one of the double rooms. As I remember the room was rather small, bathrooms even smaller and the urgent need for refiurbishing. Since we were there during off-season the heating system did not work for a long time which made the stay rather uncomfortable. This time we booked one of the appartments because they are bigger. And so was the bathroom. Convinient for two persons. Towels and hairdryer providet. The shower cabin ist hard to enter because the step is very high and deep so handycapped persons may have some difficulties there. The bedroom/living room has ben obviously refurbished not to long ago and is equipped with a very small flatscreem TV two small tables and two chairs. Not really suitable to work. Even though we have been there again during off-season the heating system did work. As a courtesy one bottle of water was provided with compliments whitch I found quite nice. If this is not enough you can help yourself from the fridge (soft drinks and beer) located outisde of the appartment on the floor which is priced very reasonly and conviniently: You just put the money in a box.Unfortunately the beds havent been replaced during the last refurbishing session so they were quite old, short and narrow. The double bed consists of two single beds which habe been moved together. Even worse the mattresses are worn out and totally soft and weak. Not quite comfortable to sleep. (-1point) Sensitive natures may feel discomfortable because of the rather transparent curtain which does not really keep the light out for a long sleep (-1). Fineally about 30m away from your window you will find a railroad track. Though trains run slowly at a rather low frequentcy you may find this disturbing. I didn`t notice it much and I call myselfe sensitive in that matter but maybe someone else does. The kitchen looked clean and complete but since we didnt use it Ill not rate it. Breakfast was ok, with a wide range of jams, cerials and a selection of (not the finest but ok) cheese and could cuts. A selection of tea and jug of coffee have been provided as well als cold rinks. Personally I think the breakfast at 11€ per person is a bit overpriced considering a room charge of 109€ per night. The staff was always very friendly and attentive. Check in and out proceudre was ok. Keep in mind there is no reception so you need to go to the restaurant to do that. Cash or EC (V-Pay) Card is preferred. Not sure about other credit cards. Parking is for free but you may encounter problems in finding a parking lot during weekends during peak season because of the close tuourist attraction "Reckenhöle = Recken Cave " You can ask in the hotel for a guidet tour. Considering price and all the drawbacks I confirmed my decition to rate it 3 points.

Kurztrip tauglich - mehr aber auch nicht
Reviewed By briefe-von-felixDie Wohnungen ist über eine sehr steile Treppe zu erreichen und wurde während des Aufenthaltes durchgehend mäßig beheizt. Das Badezimmer ist sehr klein und mit einfachstem Mobiliar ausgestattet (z.B. Duschvorhang). In der teilweise eingerichteten Küche befand sich ein Esstisch für 4 Personen. In den Zimmern gibt es Schränke, in denen sich das Gepäck für wenige Tage Problem los unterbringen lässt. Die Lage der Ferienwohnung ist zentral in Balve und alle wichtigen Geschäfte sind fußläufig erreichbar. Insgesamt ist die Wohnung zwar zu empfehlen, jedoch nicht für einen Wohlfühl-/Erholungsurlaub, sondern eher für einen Wanderausflug oder ähnliches.

Reviewed By Thorsten GSchöne Zimmer, Alte Haus aber gut renoviert mit moderner aber stillvoller Einrichtung die zum flair des Hauses passt. Fruestück ist gut, könnte hier und da etwas umfangreicher sein,muss es aber nicht. Sehr freundliches Personal, dass auch den ein oder anderen Sonderwunsch erfüllt. Parken ist ok. Hotel, oder besser Balve liegt etwas abseits, dafür aber sehr schön. Mit dem Auto ist aber alles erreichbar.

Reviewed By CalifornicationWir waren auf der Durchriese und haben hier sehr gut zu Mittag gegessen, aber nicht übernachtet, daher kann ich die Zimmervermietung nicht bewerten. Das Restaurant jedenfalls war ziemlich groß, sowohl der Innen- als auch Außenbereich, und die Speisekarte vielfältig! WCs völlig in Ordnung. Unser Kellner war wirklich nicht unfreundlich aber doch etwas leidenschaftslos!! Bestellt haben wir zunächst die Ofenkartoffel mit Salat sowie Reibekuchen mit Apfelmus. Da beides wirklich grandios war, orderten wir doch noch Nachtisch: Apfelkuchen, Espresso und Kaffee mit Milch. Alles fantastisch, allem voran hatte der Kaffee einen unbeschreiblich besonderen, eigenen Geschmack, wobei ich jedoch vermute, dass das an der (offenbar sehr guten) Milch gelegen haben könnte. Wir saßen draußen, es war dort etwas zugig, wenn man sich was überzog aber trotzdem schön. Man bekommt hier auch den Ponyhofbetrieb mit, für mich war das toll zum Gucken.
